FWIW, I opened both Monmouthshire accounts (RS and Easy Access) in the app on Saturday - both were opened within minutes and generated welcome letter emails (with account details); I paid £500 / £1 on Sunday and both deposits were showing in the app on Monday morning (backdated to the Sunday). I did also register for online access on the Saturday, and received an email reply immediately stating that the activation code would be sent in the post in the next few days - though it was signed "xxxxx Building Society / My Accounts Helpline: xxxx xxxxxx", so that email template needs fixing as the others correctly mentioned Monmouthshire and their phone number.mon3ysav3r said:I applied for the Monmouthshire BS Regular Saver Issue 8 paying 6%, up to £500 per month and unlimited withdrawals on their website (not app) on Friday. Monmouthshire building society.
I rang up earlier hoping to speed up my account (RS issue 8) appearing online but was told I had to wait for a letter to arrive to confirm the application and signature form.
The nice lady l spoke to did try to see if she could activate the account, but no joy. So, postal service it is:(
On another note. I tried to open another issue 8 yesterday evening, online again, no app and it said l was successful but at 10ish today had a email saying due to a error online only one RS Issue 8 allowed.0 -

Replaced by Market Harborough Fixed Term Regular Saver (30.09.2026) at the same rate with a new maturity date of 30/9/26.I opened the 30/6/26 issue online, I think good owd Bridlington found a link and posted it on here

If I do that, that account isn't there as an option to open.
So, do I say 'No' and go through the whole application process as a new customer? If so do they merge it with my online facility? Or give me a separate profile?
What have others done?1 -
Based on what you've provided you should be able to close the account. If the system is not allowing you to close it yourself, most straightforward thing to do is to contact them and ask them to close it for you.Bridlington1 said:Regarding the NLA Furness BS Christmas RS Issue 2 that was available earlier this year. Has anybody else had difficulties closing the account online after making one withdrawal?
I made one withdrawal the other month, now I'm trying to close the account to free up funds for August's regular savers. Whenever I do so I get this message:
If I try to make a withdrawal I get this message:
My understanding of the terms were that you were permitted to make one withdrawal and retain the account and that you could then make a further withdrawal or closure, however the second withdrawal would result in the account being converted to an access account, which you could close from there.t

Monmouthshire BSTrying to log in to the app.It is saying to choose 2FA of text or email. Select below. But there are no options below.Any advice on this.Thanks.0

press it twice and then enter the second OTP value you receive... it's a quirk of the app, even with fingerprint enabled, I still need to enter 2FA.charlie12525 said:Monmouthshire BSTrying to log in to the app.It is saying to choose 2FA of text or email. having just logged in, I find that I now have a second RS - Regular Saver (Issue 2)... I can see no mention of it in their withdrawn list of products (pdf only mentions issue 3 - so i've no idea what the rate would be)... i'll leave it unfunded for now, as it will no doubt disappear at some point.
update - I wonder if it's the account I opened 2 years ago, realised it used a passbook, never funded and requested it be closed? I used a different email address back then, but perhaps if it was never closed, stayed on the books and has now been consolidated back into the new login ?? the account starts 0370, whereas the two opened at the weekend start 0372 - so that might imply that it's a much older account.0 -
Have done before I saw your message and they've now closed my account following a secure message I sent last night.Ch1ll1Phlakes said:

It was more a heads up for anyone else with the account if anything, their systems don't seem to allow you to close the Christmas RS in the usual way if you've already made a withdrawal so you do need to contact them if you want it closing early.1 -
I have done exactly that (today) so will let you know what happens.soulsaver said:

Monmouthshire do a lot of stuff manually - for example manually adding an account to your online profile after you've done the online 'add account' process... so there's a good chance more people will have the same experience of duplicate accounts being spotted if they give MonBS reason to look.Bob2000 said:Monmouthshire building society.

It makes sense that Mon BS no longer have a rate listed for it, as the last accounts would have matured before the list was written. I applied for it after it was reported NLA on here but before the link stopped working, then delayed funding it for about as long as I could. It matured in early October 2024.
