2FA seems OTT if you’ve used biometrics to get into the app in the first place. Especially when you’re just wanting to view/apply and not withdraw.s71hj said:Re Monmouthshire BS app, the 2 factor thing is really weird in that you choose text message route but then have to choose it a 2nd time before you can put the 6 digit code on3 -
So what is the verdict on best way to open Monmouth Reg Saver Iss 8? I havent yet downloaded the Monmouth BS mobile app
Online banking: Would this route trigger wet signature form to be sent and thus delay funding of the account for July 2025? I m an existing member since Feb 2025 and have the online account set up.
Mobile App: Is the app working perfectly, including 2FA and Reg saver is up and running?
What would you suggest- Online or mobile app?
Also, I understand CoP is not being recognised for some. Is funding through other Monmouth BS account okay, any specific T&Cs prohibiting this? I hold a Limited Access Saver Issue 4, with no withdrawals so far, so can make first deposit through it.0 -
Guessing you've not used their new android app then, numourus bugs etc, it's going to take a lot to get Monmouthshire all modern & nice, and it's taking way too long to do thatgt94sss2 said:
The online banking software that Monmouthshire use is the same as several other building societies. It is one where you have to manually "add" a new account too and/or choose to "hide" a closed account.jameseonline said:clairec666 said:
Thanks for the tip. Definitely worth grabbing this one while it's open, £500 a month makes it appealing.Bridlington1 said:
There's a chance it'll go quite quickly I should imagine. Monmouthshire BS is the one that launched a 7% RS that was open to all in 2023 but then pulled it within 24 hours.clairec666 said:
Same here, I'm struggling to fund all of my regular savers at the moment, and none are maturing until mid-September. Hopefully this one will be on offer for a while.jameseonline said:
Interesting, not sure if I've got the funds to start one though🤣Kim_13 said:Looking at Moneyfacts, Monmouthshire appear to be launching a Regular Saver Issue 8 tomorrow paying 6%, £500 per month and unlimited withdrawals.
I cannot see an equivalent Exclusive account.
Maybe in September if it's still going🤔
I've not had an account with Monmouthshire before - what are people's experiences with them? I saw on another thread about deposits being slow.
Monmouthshire don't seem to actually close you off on their systems either, so despite me telling them & being assured they closed my regular saver etc everything still seems to be there, zero balance etc
I actually find this quite useful as it means I can set it to show my open accounts but access details of those I've already closed if I need to.
Apart from the fact that they take some time to reflect transactions online and slow opening times occasionally when they have been overwhelmed I have been quite happy with MBS.
They are certainly not the worst technically in my experience.

Mine's open too. This morning it had completed, without further intervention by myself.First £500 on their way now.
It seemed simple enough, very significantly faster than previous applications (ignoring that I was overly keen and tried to open the account earlier than it became officially available)
I'm finding that the app is logging me out every time I move to another screen (filling in a new payee at my bank). which is fair enough, but logging back in demands a new OTP be generated each time despite having set up biometrics. This is a serious PITA.2 -

I have access to both an andriod and ios phone and as new customer, neither gives me the option to apply for the RS.
I assume the app is only for existing customers to apply for it and new people need to do the manual process via the website instead3 -
Monmouthshire
I've applied online - long complex annoying form for information that they already have on me.
Then I logged out in the hope that the account would show when I logged back in again but now it wont let me log back in as it thinks some of my details are incorrect!
I really dont need the app as I will only have one account which I can access once a month to check the standing order has gone through but it seems it might be quicker to download the app. That is if the passcode ever comes through!
As to the cashflow issue and finding funds for Monmouthshire- when I went through my list the 3 building societies that had dropped their savings rates to 4.25% or thereabouts I altered the standing orders to the minimum deposit - Stafford, Coventry and Leek which has given me more wiggle room.“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0 -
I've tried several times, received 3 OTPs, nowhere to put them in. Then I've picked e-mail option, this somehow allowed me to input the code and open the account.s71hj said:

Monmouthshire. App.
FWIW, I've fed back to them my dislike of 2FA on their app. I'm hoping enough people feel similarly, they listen and they remove it.1
