I wouldn't touch Monmouthshire even if they were the last building society on Earth. Good laugh also reading the reviews on line and the stories published by ex employees: just had a 'good' couple of hours doing some research on line. No, thank you, but wish all the best to those who will be in the queue tomorrow. If you will be heading for one of their branches I do hope you'll find a handy stable for your horse.jameseonline said:
Monmouthshire are one of the building societies being dragged very slowly into the modern age it's basically why I've never really got started with them, I had a regular saver with them & for a long time I couldn't get at the money I put in, eventually after a while on a call one day they said they said they could transfer it electronically to my Virgin account rather than a cheque.clairec666 said:
Thanks for the tip. Definitely worth grabbing this one while it's open, £500 a month makes it appealing.Bridlington1 said:
There's a chance it'll go quite quickly I should imagine. Monmouthshire BS is the one that launched a 7% RS that was open to all in 2023 but then pulled it within 24 hours.clairec666 said:
Same here, I'm struggling to fund all of my regular savers at the moment, and none are maturing until mid-September. Hopefully this one will be on offer for a while.jameseonline said:
Interesting, not sure if I've got the funds to start one though🤣Kim_13 said:Looking at Moneyfacts, Monmouthshire appear to be launching a Regular Saver Issue 8 tomorrow paying 6%, £500 per month and unlimited withdrawals.
I cannot see an equivalent Exclusive account.
Maybe in September if it's still going🤔
I've not had an account with Monmouthshire before - what are people's experiences with them? I saw on another thread about deposits being slow.
They still issue passbooks for new accounts, just like they did years ago when I had a regular saver, personally I don't want/need one.
And Monmouthshire recently launched an app, which wasn't the best to get setup on either. (Commented on that on my companies without savings app thread)
I gave Monmouthshire another go last year I think incase some decent accounts came up & it seems this may now pay off, opened an easy access, the process was not smooth, I had to sign forms, post off, chase things with staff on phone calls, wait for things in post etc.
Monmouthshire don't seem to actually close you off on their systems either, so despite me telling them & being assured they closed my regular saver etc everything still seems to be there, zero balance etc, I can literally see it on the newly released app, so yeah if you've had a login etc before you might have to contact them to reactivate it etc.
I'd say only bother with Monmouthshire if you don't have any other options available to you because for someone so used to digital/online banking they are pretty high on my list for the most frustrating companies because they are so old fashioned.0 -
I'll always remember this RS because it was the only one I've ever missedBridlington1 said:

Had to settle with 8% version only. This taught me a lesson, since then I grab RS's on the day they are launched.
I've just downloaded the app and issue 8 is available. I've applied, but at the end there was no confirmation so I'm probably too quick this time round. I hope this won't confuse MonBS online system and I will be able to apply for it tomorrow without complications.

MonBS Reg Saver Issue 8 appears to be available to apply for this evening via the appEdit:Gave it a go. Got a page saying "we are processing your application, do not refresh/close the app". 10 mins later the page disappeared but no sign of confirmation? Will see what happens3

Same happened to me before dinner. There is now a message on the app saying their system is currently under maintenance and apologising for any inconvenience1 -
I plan to apply on my dinner break tomorrow, I suspect I'd have to be rather unfortunate for it not to last 2-3 hours and even then the application links have remained active for a few hours after being removed from the website in the past so I've got some possible leeway.allegro120 said:

I also note that the online application link for each issue of their regular saver is the same as the one before so presumably issue 8 shall follow suit, in which case if I apply today there's a chance I could end up with issue 7 at 3.4% which would be even more frustrating.1 -
Exactly he same here, at the end it just turned back to home page. I've closed and reopened the app and it's now showing "system maintenance"message.PRAISETHESUN said:MonBS Reg Saver Issue 8 appears to be available to apply for this evening via the appEdit:Gave it a go. It's visible to apply for via their app but they seem to be having technical difficulties tonight so I'd wait until it's officially live tomorrow before tryingArcherychick said:Monthmouthshire
