I get testing the unclear, but...
I have to train myself to ignore them /try to. I was brought up and in school that rules were strict, so it's kinda hard, almost "Sheldon" territory, or at least "Mr McKay, Porridge" (obey all the rules).
Comical though, is it really thought this popular public forum isn't read by financial services staff.2 -
I don’t see anyone advising people to break terms. They are just stating what they have personally done.francoghezzi said:

I can sit smugly on the fence here, I've hit my monthly funding limit otherwise I'd probably be stress-testing a few T&Cs myself.Stargunner said:

It may well not be advice. But it is most certainly encouragement.
If it were not, then there would be no reason to say "I did it"
We have one example above where someone effectively said "well it worked for you so I did it too".
Still, each to their own. If the Society closes either/both their accounts or terminate their membership, I'll get some popcorn to watch the fallout1 -
Market Harborough Building Society
Has anyone by any chance funded any RS with them from an account that was not your nominated account please? If so, did it credit as expected? Asked this question either earlier in this thread or in the old thread, but think the verdict was no one had tested yet, but should work. Wanted to check prior to doing it myself.
ThanksIf you want me to definitely see your reply, please tag me @forumuser7 Thank you.

Ditto to all of this (although I do my payments manually). Why are you not planning to fund on 20/01?simonsmithsays said:

I tried this but got the following error message:ForumUser7 said:Coventry Loyalty Seasonal Saver
Those looking to have this account run by calendar month, (i.e. from the 1st of each month), a reminder that today is the day to open/refresh.
> Sorry, we are currently unable to close your account online. This may be because your account:- is not eligible to close online- has no existing eligible payees to receive the closing balance- is currently awaiting uncleared funds e.g. an uncleared cheque- is an ISA or a penalty based account opened within the last 14 days- may have a negative balance- needs both account holders to sign to close the account
I tried opening an easy access saver (just so it had somewhere obvious to pay the funds to) and adding this as a payee (which required setting up a bogus future payment, but this didn't seem to resolve the issue. Might try again later, not the end of the world if it doesn't happen of course.
Coventry Loyalty Seasonal Regular Saver (Refreshing for 1st Month Payment Dates)
I did fund it when I opened it, and from your comment it seems you didn't and therefore could renew? Oh well, I can't be bothered faffing with closing one account now and risking another one, or having hassle trying to get back the 30D interest deduction...will just skip this month and start again from 1st Feb.
Regarding this account.
I forgeyt that CBS don't work on Calender months and have had a £250 bounced back today after I funded on the 20/12/24.
My next payment is now due for the 1/2/25.
Do CBS enforce the £1 minimum monthly contribution?
We're talking 11k worth.
Having this one out of kilter from everything else (including my other Coventry RS) would be a bit of a pain as I only keep a minimal amount in the feeder account after the first working day.1 -
Yes, because of the RBS duplicate payee problem discussed elsewhere, my MHBS RS pair have been funded from RBS and FD, the nominee a/c is RBS.ForumUser7 said:Market Harborough Building Society

I very nearly did the exact same thing, I do all mine manually (brain can't cope with remembering to transfer funds so find this way easier) and it was only as I was about to press send that I realised I couldn't fund till the 20th.simonsmithsays said:

Probably do the same next month too!2 -
Are we talking specifically about Progressive here? Because I don't see anyone breaking any terms. It says you can't have more than one Rainy Day regular saver, and the new online regular saver (Issue 3) is not branded Rainy Dayhappybagger said:It may well not be advice. Oops! Turns out I can't read!
I would definitely be on the side of actively discouraging people from breaking Ts&Cs that are clearly stated.0 -
Not strictly true because their Sunny Day you can fund on the 1st of each monthsimonsmithsays said:
