Yes, the chances for my balance to go over £1 are slim. At the same time the account is harmless so I don't see the point in not having it.Stargunner said:
I just don’t see the point in opening numerous RS accounts with a £1. If they are a variable interest rate that is not competitive to start with, they are never likely to become competitive.allegro120 said:
I have all of them so not really in need of 5% RSs, but still opened YBS 5%. I might need it at some point, you never know. It took about 3 minutes to open and make £1 deposit. I wouldn't have bothered if the opening required any more effort than this. It's a healthy addition to my £1 accounts collection, most of them pay significantly lower ratesGetRichOrDieSaving said:Think I’ll be giving the YBS 5% variable a miss. I currently have a monthly RS outlay of £3,850 with the lowest rate being 6%. As they mature i will open/fund the 5.25%-5.75% regular savers that are currently on offer (e.g. Skipton, Halifax, Lloyds etc).Still have Santander Edge at 6% and 3x Cahoot Sunny Day Savers at 5% also.
If I didn't have EAs paying the same rate I would deposit the full allowance and put it on my RS distribution list for February.

I got the impression when I was asked to change mine this month that it must be every three months, as I was a new customer in October 2025 when Rainy Day Issue 4 was launched.flaneurs_lobster said:

Progressive BS - Online Rainy Day Saver 4I've just received an email notifying that the interest rate will be dropping from 7% --> 6.75% effective from 1st February 2026.0

Progressive: Effectively I change my password each time I log in. That would fit with a quarterly schedule as I usually go at least 3 months between logins. Not an issue, although not a good security measure. NIST guidelines were updated in 2017 to recommend "Verifiers SHOULD NOT require memorized secrets to be changed arbitrarily (e.g., periodically)", due to the fact it tends to lead to weaker passwords being chosen.2

In my experience if you press the back button and then select the home button when logging on you can get past that message and into online banking without having to change your password.daz378 said:Just sent sent 250 from my bank to my progressive regular saver...when I tried to sign in accepted password and WhatsApp code...but then prompted me to change my password...I backed out out as thought this strange...when I rang guy said they do this periodically...only had account few months..I've never heard of this3 -

Thank you. For anyone wondering, the product terms and general savings terms state that this account can't be closed because of the rate reduction — I've just trawled through the documentation. Ah well...0 -
They will be different depending on the timings and values of deposits. Mine is £93.57 to £18.36 - £0.21 difference. I opened this account on 8th August and deposited full allowance on the 1st of each consecutive month.Ch1ll1Phlakes said:
Likewise. Same figures for me as well. Will be interesting to see if there are any different interest values used for other accounts.savethepandas said:Darlington B S
