Mine matures on 31/12. I was planning on emptying the Access RS of everything bar £1 online by FP, is that not an option?subjecttocontract said:West Brom Reg Saver Iss 7
My account matures 6th Jan and automatically becomes an Access Reg Saver.
Given the fact that they only operate on a branch visit basis I was concerned as I'm nowhere near any branches.
Into that might be useful for others..... I called them today and good news.....they can close the account over the phone when I'm ready
I certainly closed my one last year online. I know after I renewed it it went branch only, but mine matures about a week into January and I'm expecting to be able to close it online.
Have to wait and seeI consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?1 -
My branch visit this morning gave a more favourable outcome 🙂 I think your final sentence highlights the issue.allegro120 said:
I called Dudley a minute ago to request the application form by post (I don't have a working printer). I told them that I already have the online version, they said I only allowed one version, can't have both versions. I guess the rule depends on who you are talking to.Born2Save_3 said:DudleyBS Festive Regular Saver Online - 1176Called Dudley branch; sounds like they impose a quota on the number of applications. Dudley person not aware of any website issues. Confirmed can have both post/branch version and online version,1 -
My top 2 factors are a fixed rate (especially as variable rates are beginning to decrease) and access to the funds (either by closure, or withdrawal)PixelPound said:What's your biggest factor for choosing a RS?- Highest interest rate?- fixed rate of interest?- withdrawal options?- Monthly Deposit limits?Obviously a High interest earns as much as you can (barring BoE cuts), where as fixed could beat these if there is more than a couple of cuts during the term. Maybe it's where you keep the emergency fund, so an option to withdraw it if something happens and it's needed is a big factor. Or maybe you don't like faffing around with lots of small monthly amounts and one with a high deposit limit means bigger total interest at the end.0 -
Thanks, would be good to be able to see the details of the nominated account online but can't see a way to do that.subjecttocontract said:
When I phoned they checked they had my correct nominated account details so an FP payment could be made.flaneurs_lobster said:

Suggest you make sure they have your correct details.0 -
It depends. It has to be worth my while of sorting payments each month, even if on SO I still have to manage them, so I’m unlikely to go for anything below £200. I however made an exception for NatWest/RBS because the money doesn’t mature.PixelPound said:What's your biggest factor for choosing a RS?- Highest interest rate?- fixed rate of interest?- withdrawal options?- Monthly Deposit limits?Obviously a High interest earns as much as you can (barring BoE cuts), where as fixed could beat these if there is more than a couple of cuts during the term. I don’t think this answer is ever a straightforward one.0 -

I have just had the paperwork by snail mail. It says it will transfer into an Access Regular Saver account (2.35%) as per the Ts & Cs. Money will be accessible from the next working day after maturity. Money can be taken out whenever you like from then. However if you plan to leave any money there you must pay in a minimum of £20 each month. If you want to retain membership with them it is probably sensible to open another account and move the £1 there.Correction if you don't pay in for 2 months the rate drops to 1.65%.0 -
Usually highest rate, but would go for the highest deposit limit if it is fixed rate (as it’s probably being opened speculatively to an extent.) I’ve just gone for Suffolk branch/post rather than online for this reason. I open a mix of fixed and variable rate to try and ensure I get the maximum return.PixelPound said:What's your biggest factor for choosing a RS?- Highest interest rate?- fixed rate of interest?- withdrawal options?- Monthly Deposit limits?Obviously a High interest earns as much as you can (barring BoE cuts), where as fixed could beat these if there is more than a couple of cuts during the term. I had the same accounts as yours mature over the weekend. Initially both went through as I'd hoped, but I received messages from them this afternoon saying both would now be closed.allegro120 said:PBS morphing
I had two matured today. Xmas 25 -> 6M - failed as expected. HH -> Xmas 26 morphed successfully. I submitted instructions as soon as the options were available (14 days ago) and was wearing black t-shirt made in Canada with a stereotypical picture of pine trees and the wolf. It could be the wolf that sabotaged opening another 6M.1 -
