To me the old system with a single thread worked just fine. I am not chasing neither pennies nor pounds, so when I have time I read new posts weekly, when I don't have time, I just look at the first page once a month, maybe once every two months, but it was very convenient to know which thread to check! Thank you @Special_Saver2 for the 17 years of service to community. Good luck to @Bridlington1 in finding the right balance!
(Just as a remark: for some time the place I worked at were led by an amazing chap. He often worked till 2am and did the jobs which would normally be dedicated to one of us himself. For the organisation, it was the Golden Years. The pay off came when he retired: nobody had any idea how the things work and how to do those "small" jobs properly.)

I am struggling to see how 3 threads will be better than 2 ..... or 1 if you prefer?
Regardless it will continue to be an extraordinary resource,  largely thanks to the person who has maintained it for years and the person who has taken it over having been endlessly helpful to scores of us and but also thanks to everyone who offers help to queries about things that may be buried in  t and Cs but hard to find. Good to improve the structure of the threads but I personally don't want to lose sight of that.
Fully agree with all your points in your post above. But do you think 3 parallel threads will be better than the two Bridlington1 proposes?
To be honest I don't mind if it's one two or three. I look at scores of threads on here and it takes a tiny part of my day up if I read an extra one or two and accidentally read the same info twice. Sometimes it prompts me to do something I'd read but forgotten. Sometimes I go back over old ones anyway and find things I'd read and missed the significance of or forgotten to act on. Also I really don't mind the chat but fully respect that others don't like it. I had a burst of doing regular savers a few years ago and this site was some help but regardless of the structure or exactly how many threads it's unfathomably more useful now

For those that don't understand how regular savers work and think you've been diddled out of half your interest, prepare for 17 replies explaining why you're wrong.

    Simple as.
They appear to have started that on the Nick_C "No chat" thread already! I'm thinking it looks almost like sabotage, but maybe something more innocent  :s

I welcome the concept of organising the threads and I wish them every success but I fear that it's futile! "Herding cats" is, I think, the appropriate description of this effort.  The posters on the MSE forum just don't have a culture of discipline about what or where they make postings. I suspect that any issue about regular savings which is exercising the mind of a typical MSE poster, will get posted in the first thread which has "Regular Savers" in its title, so the thread which has the latest post gets another post and so on.
I saw a post this morning which claimed that Bridlington1 could manage this thread - what?! How could that be achieved with the tools available?  What's lacking is forum moderation whereby irrelevant posts can be deleted or moved to the correct thread.
The only suggestion I would make is to create a new sub-section of the "Savings" forum entitled "Regular Savings" to go alongside "ISAs & tax-free savings".

How come when my first direct RS matured I only got half the expected interest? Smells like a scam!
You have posted this in the incorrect thread, as this thread is just for new regular savers and not a general chat thread.

    Please post it in

The Top Regular Savers Discussion Thread so

Someone will then explain that your interest is correct and how you have incorrectly worked it out.
I disagree, I think it's a total swizz. So glad hedgie chose this thread to highlight the discrepancy.
Can you please explain how it is a swizz?

If you deposit £300 per month for 12 months, you should receive £136 in interest

Where did Hedgehog say they had earned £136? They said they got half what they were expecting.

This is officially the new thread for Regulars, Nick's isn't and just seems to confuse.

People are still posting in the old one.

I guess the only way to reduce the confusion is to lock the old one, maybe stick a old/archive name tag on it, make this new thread the same name and stick new name tag on it.

As for Archived History thread maybe rename to Archived Regular T& C's  or something?

Even though things have already been explained in the threads, you still going to people still posting etc in wrong place until things are clearer in terms of thread title etc.
