Welcome to the challenge @Blackberrycurved It is never too late to join us. My suggestion is work out your spending and your available budget to the penny and then break it all down beginning with the needs. If there's enough left over for savings or wants then you can get to grips with that next so you have your own personal goals. Good luck maintaining happy debt freedom.
@Prudent - Tide application was rejected
GOOD LUCK TO ALL WHO ARE IN THE LINE OF THE STORM. STAY SAFE. KEEP YOUR EMERGENCY KITS HANDY. We received a Government alert text for red warning here so here goes for a rough day tomorrow.I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

@Prudent we had the warning text, too, so I have the log burner blazing and big pot of soup on the go - we need to be at Frugaldom for the animals and friend is staying in one of the other cabins. Stay safe! Our schools and council services are also being closed.I reserve the right not to spend.

I hope all goes well for you and the animals @Frugaldom. I am glad you have an extra air of hands too. What a shame about the Tide application. I know a few small organisations locally are struggling with banking options.9

Take care and be vigilant everyone, lets hope this storm won't be as bad as expected.

Thanks Prudent that’s a thought we have an Amber warning. Not heard that schools are closed although trains look non existent. My 2 kits won’t put a paw out if it’s cold. I have an open fire, wood burners effect my asthma.DF by 2023 No 17 £1,644 /£6000 Total debt £18,000 at the start of DFW Journey. 201814TH JULY 2021 DEBT FREE now in control365 1p challenge No 498

hi Blackberrycurved. I don't know if you have a water meter? I changed to one a couple of years after my Husband died and my monthly payments dropped significantly

The wild weather is starting to kick in here now. I got up early and made tea for all of our flasks. There are lined up on the dresser beside the camping lanterns and spare batteries for the lanterns. Making flasks is quicker than using the hob kettle. I have done most of the house work that needs power and all the devices are charged. Mostly I am thinking about Frugaldom and the animals hoping they are all safe well and that the wildlife is able to shelter. OH fed the birds at the allotment this morning, but I don't know if we will manage to get down for their late afternoon feed.11

Morning everyone, I hope you are all safe and warm. The rain and wind is battering our house at the moment.
@Prudent Thank you for the advice re garden furniture. OH and I put our lighter garden furniture away (plastic bench) in the shed, heavier furniture (wooden) we have moved right up against the house as we have no room for it in the shed. I have a log burner so I'll get the wood stocked up beside it and get flasks of water done as well. I have plenty of tea light candles and 2 large torches that I will leave handy just in case.
OH did a supply run at Lidl last night. He says it was even busier than he'd seen it at Christmas so I think everyone had the same idea. This morning I am going to get a loaf of bread made, a banana loaf and make a cottage pie. We have plenty of cheese and chutneys so if there is no power later on we can at least have them on a sandwich or on crackers.Frugal Living challenge 2025
