Morning everyone,
Welcome to the new members of this helpful and friendly community 😊
I have already spent some of January's budget even though it's not quite January yet !!.
A large proportion +£25 of the cost is down to last minute entertaining, I've brought extra drinks food and snacks. Just the cheese board left to get.
January is the loooooongest month so after today I'm going to try really hard to reduce trips to the supermarket (I'm practically on first name terms 🤣 with the staff).
I have done an inventory of the cupboards and freezer and a meal plan for the month. Really chuffed, my cheap veg is still great, over a week after buying it. Today I made coleslaw with the red cabbage and carrots, and used brocoli, carrots and potato for yesterday's cottage pie.

First shop today after chasing DH around the house trying to work out when he's going to be here and what he wants to eat. Managed to plan 3 days dinners. There's stuff in for lunches and breakfast.
I was gifted a pasta machine for Christmas so shop included pasta flour and some bits to make a nice meal tonight, a quorn roast for tomorrow and other bits. Paid cash for a change which made me feel weird - I don't think twice about tapping my carsd, but feeding actual money into the till made it seem like a lot more. I might be going crazy.£31.58/375

hopefully all ok for a week now 🤞🏼 I am determined this month! Also really wanted a takeaway and haven’t succumbed, I didn’t last month either. Hopefully that can continue as that was a dent in the budget and increasingly relied on when tired and bored of cooking/thinking about cooking/shopping etc! However more recently the takeaways don’t do it for me, rather they make me resentful of how much they have cost! I will be mindful about this extravagance this year!HNY all. 💯🥳Emergency Fund: 1000/2000August Grocery Challenge: 97/550

Evening everyone and welcome to the new joiners. I had to visit M & S today because they’re closed for the next couple days in my part of Scotland. So, I’m splitting the difference between December and January budgets. My original total was £27.93 but I’m using £12.03 of December’s budget to pay for it. That leaves £15.90 to debit from the January budget.
My shop consisted of bananas, clementines, mushrooms, sliced ham, YS hummus, 18 eggs, YS and regular priced fruit yoghurts, olive ciabatta rolls, sliced cheese, coffee beans, and a large packet of sliced smoked salmon that was reduced down to only £1.99! They were marking down loads of food due to being closed the next couple days.
The ham, sliced cheese and mushrooms are contributions for NYD breakfast tomorrow at our friends’ house. They’ve got a new crêpe pan and invited us over for breakfast.
£15.90 / £300.00 spent. £284.10 remaining.
£44.10 to last me until January 7th as I’m allocating £60/week.
Have a happy new year everyone! 🎉

Well, here i am. Back again. With my tail between my legs
400 FOR JANUARY PLEASE
Although I'm hoping to spend as little as possible.
I do need to make an order for some flour and the fridge is empty , the freezer however is jam packed and the cupboards are full of crap too. 😁
1 adult,
4 kids that eat like adults (17, 11, 10, 8)
1 kitty, I'll include his food but not the litter
So I'm hoping to stick as low as I can but here's hoping and that 400 is until 4th of February.
Thanks so much @elsiepac
And a happy new year to all!! 🥳 🎉January 2025 GC 🥕 £144.61 / £400

@BudgetingBelinda takeaways were/are my downfall too!! It's just nice to have a night off sometimes.....although knowing the delivery person on first name terms is never a good sign 😳
Hoping to have a much more relaxed year and bulk cooking might just be a life saver for me.8 -
Hi I'd like to join please. I have lots of food in the house. The freezer and fridge are both bursting, and the fruit bowl is overflowing. I will only need to buy salad, milk and yoghurt.
