Thank you! I need to do better at all of the above. I actually came in at the second lowest grocery spend I have spent in a year. Even that much over 🧐😵. So I’m going in the right direction just no way fast enough or good enough. I do need to eat cheaper things and eat less. I’m going to really plan better this month and I’m doing well staying out of the mid week shop things on the whole. Clearly massive room for improvement though so I will be taking on board more of these tips and staying accountable. 💪🏼👌🏼
my month started today so for Feb 0/550! I am not upping it anymore than £550.. that’s enough & if ahem.. *when* I can get there I will be so pleased 🤪 (will go find feb thread soon!)Emergency Fund: 1000/2000August Grocery Challenge: 208/550

Just had a "free day" using up half an onion, 2 carrots some frozen mushrooms, chicken scraps from pot roast a few days ago, Rice, 3 eggs and soya sauce. It was lovely and DH enjoyed it too. I will add it to my armoury. Most of those bits and pieces would have been thrown away before I started this challenge. Well done to everyone especially the newbies..craft stash 2023 =161, 2024 = 119 2025 = £25.96 spent, 128 made and 5 mended,

An unanticipated spend of £14.79 today has put me closer to the line than I'd like! I could count it as "family contingency" as it was basically just replacing a few items that we'd run out of earlier than normal after having DS1, DDiL and baby here for 4 days, but I'll soldier on and keep trying to stay under budget. Payday is Friday... Thursday will be the day I'll need to keep a tight rein on my purse-strings, when I visit the butcher & the supermarket!Angie - GC Aug25: £207.73/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)10

I'm declaring £460.17/£400 so slightly over but still an improvement on previous months. I need to reign in the takeaways by having something simple in the freezer for when the meal plan doesn't work for some reason.Grocery Challenge 2024

Had another spend at Lidl this morning of £4.20 but it was a great bargain. Lidls coupons weren't working at the weekend so DH couldn't get his £5 off the steam mop offer. The staff told him to contact head office so he did and received an apology and £20 voucher from them added to his app! Happy days! So we quickly stocked up on essentials and our £24.20 only cost us £4.20.
The beauty of it was that when DH checked the app when he got home it said that in addition to the £20 voucher that had already been given him they were also awarding him another £10 voucher because of the technical problems they had last weekend! Goodness knows why but at least he sent them a very polite complaint email so doesn't feel embarrassed at their generosity.AUGUST GROCERY CHALLENGE £115.93/ £250

Afternoon Everyone,
I thought l was finished with the spends for January but we ran out of cheese @£4.88 ( a must have in our house), we also needed beans to go with the cheese & jkt potatoes for dinner yesterday. Whilst there l saw our favourite basmati rice 5kg reduced to £8.53. Technically, we didn't need it yet, but by the time we run out it will be back to £15 so l brought it.
New and hopefully, final total £432.63 / £500
