  • i am in a similar situation
i am self employed for decades so always have done a tax return.
i closed 4 old low interest accounts accounts with nationwide and opened 4 new better paying accounts with nationwide   but i did not write down the numbers of my old accounts

    my fault totally

impossible to do online without the numbers of the accounts and even a visit to the branch in my case only found 2 accounts and cashier said the system was just sending her iround in loops with the other 2 accounts.

my yearly interest statement from nationwide never showed the closed accounts at all .

i read somewhere the uk high street banks give hmrc the interest figures in feb 10 months after previous tax year has finished but might or might not be true.

i put down on my tax return my best guess estimated interest figure
then tick the box under that says was this an estimate yes or no
    ticked yes
then a message box comes up
put in the message box info that i have explained above
    and submitted return
that was on early april so nearly 9 months ago

i always leave a plus 4 figure balance on my account with hmrc in case they ammend my tax return and want more money albeit they have refunded me many more times than they have taken extra.

Nationwide will give you an annual statement of interest for all the he accounts they have associated with you, even if you closed them during the year. You can access it via your online account.

  • I closed a few accounts this year and I am sure they said I have 12 months to access statements, but it would have to be in branch. I downloaded a load from my online account at the time, but this kind of access is probably what they have to offer for situations exactly like this.

Just pop into the branches (with ID I'd imagine) and they will be able to print it all off for you. Sometimes they might let you request it over the phone.
