in Cutting tax
I am looking to get a second job, I am in Higher tax band 42% in my main job, if i get second job my overall salary will be within band 42%, not planning to earn more than 10 to 12000 a year.
Is tax on my second job will be 42%?

Yes, unless your total taxable income reaches £75,001.hbhanot said:I am looking to get a second job, I am in Higher tax band 42% in my main job, if i get second job my overall salary will be within band 42%, not planning to earn more than 10 to 12000 a year.

You could of course split your tax free allowance over both jobs - would not make any difference overall though.1

True but it would be highly likely that there would always be some adjustment needed after the end of the tax year. Either extra tax to pay or a refund.DE_612183 said:You could of course split your tax free allowance over both jobs - would not make any difference overall though.
With that level of income leaving the current tax code in place at the existing job and having a SD1 code at the new job will keep life simpler.0
