No blanching? It tastes ok? I really can't be bothered blanching so if it works ok this is a great idea. I was also thinking of lightly cooking up batches of onion, carrot and celery and portion it up for the freezer. This combination is the bases for so many of my dishes: soups, Bolognese, chilli, stew.Brie said:I take most things (peppers, onions, carrots, squash, tomatoes, beets, courgettes, potatoes) and just prep them into sizes that will go into soup, stew, or roasting and pot them in the freezer. No cooking in advance. I think that parsnips (if you can find any fresh) would work the same way. the 8 pence was a false alarm- they are 15 pence in Aldi but there's a great choice including red cabbage & broccoli. (Just flipping forgot to get the cooking apples for delia's spiced red cabbage)Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

8p in my aldi. 7p in lidl.
I was thinking, with a bag of lentils, some tins of beans and chickpeas, cheese and maybe mince and chicken theres so many batch cooked nutritious meals that could be made. It would be really handy for January which tends to be a frugal month.3 -
