Wife has died, how do I find out about 'Protected Payment' from State Pension?

You will reach (and your late wife would have reached) SPA in the new system.
Have a look at https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/5a758e27e5274a6faebebd94/derived-inherited-entitlement.pdf
Do check on any personal or occupational pension schemes associated with your late wife.0 -
I'm sorry for your loss.
I'm afraid that as others have said, with your wife dying so young, and with you both due to reach SPA under the new scheme, it is very unlikely that there would be any protected payment for you to inherit from her state pension record when you reach SPA, and even if there is it would most probably be a very small amount.
Your efforts are probably best focussed on any private pensions, death in service or life insurance policies she may have had.0 -
My late husband passed away in 2011 and I had to wait until 2022 to find out what inherited state pension I could expect to get from his contributions. I didn’t know until almost to the day that I received my SP that it was approximately £10 a week. He was under old rules.3

Adding to the info on pensions - some of them will pay what are known as orphan's pensions and should be paid from the date of the mom's death until the child reaches as specified age or a higher age if still in education depending on the scheme rules. So some will stop at 18 and other will go as high as 25.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe and Old Style Money Saving boards.
