Delay in posting additional contributions

In May after listening to the pod cast of Voluntary Contributions I completed the advised forms and submitted them - after a few weeks I had a ‘quotation’ with phone numbers at HMRC to call to make payments- did that and made a plan with the very helpful folks at HMRC - after making the transfer in June 2024 and then some extra on September 2024 

curious when those years would be credited I have been checking the pension forecast … no additional years so far - call the Pension team - again very helpful - who could see the payments and the years I wanted to pay for BUT there is approximately 1 year delay in adding such payments to the records 

they did say they were processing the 8th December 2023 when I call 9th December 2024 

have to wait another 6 months to see when additional funds are added …

begs the question- why?

On what basis did you make these payments - pre or post retirement ? UK or overseas ?
