"enforcement officer" visit - do they leave a card if no one home?

If no one is at home, do they leave a card?

Context - just received two letters for a previous resident - they'll be sent back 'return to sender / not known at this address' just like all the other post for that person.  Not bothered about enforcement officers visiting as not our debt, but was curious if they'd leave a card?

    Probably - yes.

But having said that, the use of HCEOs is quite rare and the likelihood is that you've just got a debt collector writing speculative letters

Thank you - I was just curious - no cards left.

I wondered about that - the letters are from Marston Recovery & I found online that they're one of a few debt collectors that do use actual bailiffs

I've been returning post for this person for two years now, all marked 'not known at this address - return to sender' - so I guess that they should have done a trace by now & found his current address, but probably just prefer to keep increasing each debt by £235 for each visit...

I thought that Marstons left a letter rather than a card but I've never been on the receiving end.

stating the obvious - if you do answer the door to them, explain politely the individual no longer lives there, left 2 years back, give them an address if you have one but do NOT let them in.  Even if it's a dreadful storm and they are desperate for the loo.  If they get pushy get out your phone and start to film them, they should leave pretty quickly.

The problem is that that is what people do when they are avoiding their debts.  When I first moved here I kept getting letters which I returned to sender, then I got a visit   Admittedly this is years ago but they actually told me that they didn't believe any return to sender.  Having heard more about the previous owner over the years I think they were right to be sceptical.

Marston`s are a bailiff company, however they also act as debt collectors on occasion, it depends on how they have been engaged.
