Not heard from Official Receiver

I sent my bankruptcy application in last week (3rd December) and received an email to say it had been approved with the bankruptcy order on 5th. Since then I have received an email with an attached letter to say the OR is not interested in my car and that I can keep it. I then received a phone call from the Insolvency Service with a couple of questions about my bank accounts after which I received another email with a letter to say the OR was not interested in my accounts and this was also sent to my bank. I received another email yesterday to say that based on the information I provided I will not be asked to make a contribution to my bankruptcy estate through the form of an Income Payments Agreement. However I haven't had an interview with an Official Receiver yet? I thought I would have a phone interview with someone and that's when it would be decided about an IPA etc? So will I still have an interview or is it all done now? I know I am being impatient but I don't like this state of limbo waiting to see if I hear from someone else, it makes me very anxious.

Also my bank accounts (HSBC) are currently frozen and I am waiting 3 working days for a decision as to whether I can keep them. I don't owe the bank any money, not in my overdraft, so is it likely I will be able to continue using my accounts and they will just remove the overdraft facility?

Thanks

  • Sounds like the OR has no interest in you and that's probably it for 12 Months until you're discharged.
The bank may change your account to a basic account without an overdraft and cheque book.
HSBC wouldn't let me keep my account with them so went to the co-op but that was 12 years ago

Simple, straightforward bankruptcies are now dealt with quite quickly, you have had conformation of the OR having no interest in your car, bank account, and no IPA to pay, so that`s it, all the bases have been covered, there`s no more to say really and its now just a case of the 12 month countdown till discharge.

Sometimes you expect bankruptcy to be this big momentous event, and in reality it`s all done in a couple of emails no fuss, and no mess.

There are plenty of basic bank account providers to choose a new account with, just search "basic bank account".
