2025 - A Year of Saying NO

Phoenix2025

I am £10,000.00 in debt and 33 pounds overweight and it stops right now!!!! No more, enough is enough.
The tide has turned and money is going to start flowing back to me and fat will gently slide off my body, leaving the healthy, wealthy and wise woman that I am destined to be to emerge ...... the phoenix soars in 2025. It is my turn to fly.
I am the captain of my ship and I let go of the steering wheel, but I am back at the helm and I am excited about the new journey I am embarking on.
I plan to check in each morning and note my wealth and fitness goal for the day.
Today -
Yin Yoga and 30 mins on treadmill.
Say NO to the temptation to buy lunch at the gym saving £10.00.

Good luck.
Tough decision to make at this time of year, but kudos for doing so.
Most people procrastinate until the New Year ...then start, usually having made things worse in the meantime.
You can get a head start on yourself by curbing spending and eating over the next few weeks, whilst others say "mañana".How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)1 -
Hi Sea_Shell, thanks for your really encouraging comment.
You are right it is so tough to start now, but if I don't change course I will have 40 pounds of fat and £11,000.00 of debt to shift in the new year and the ship will be on the rocks at that point ........
So I accomplished yesterday's goals. The menu at the gym kept calling to me like a siren pulling me to the rocks, but I tied myself to the mast and resisted.
I am a nurse so I am going to increase my income by doing some agency work. So today's goals:-
Say No to procrastination:-
Update my CV and start getting all my paperwork in order to start applying.to agency's.
Go to the 80's dance session at the gym.

I went out for a very expensive afternoon tea yesterday with some girl friends; it was amazing fun. Tonight I am going to the pantomine with six others. I paid for everybody, on both occasions. Whilst it is already included in my debt figure, it highlights a root of my problem.
I am a generous person, now living beyond my means, with a habit of saving others before I save myself. That is going to stop now! I am my priority in 2025 . I am not projecting my issues onto others and then feeling obligated to resolve their situations at the expense of my own. I think this comes from being a nurse and seeing myself as a helper/saviour archetype. I am going to still work with this mindset, but I will see 2025 as a heroic quest to really care for me and get my future on a solid foundation physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually and financially, the fabulous five.
Today I am going to go swimming and have a no spend day..

Have you looked at the RCN website for tips on managing debt:
https://www.rcn.org.uk/Get-Help/Member-support-services/Welfare-Service/Debt-and-money-management
Are you paying into the NHS Pension? If not, you are robbing your future self.
Some other suggestions, rather than doing agency work could be:
1. Applying for a promotion.
2. Working more unsocial hours in your current role i e.
weekends/nightshifts
If you are going to be working more hours, planning ahead will be vital, so that you can make healthy food choices and fit in exercise too.
Good Luck0
