Ah ok, the kitchen and bathroom don't have heaters?Cornwell27 said:
I was thinking that by heating the hall and leaving bathroom and kitchen doors open it would heat them a little, which does seem to work as they’re not too cold.. I really think it’s the lounge that’s the problem - quite big, lots of glass and small heater that doesn’t seem to even touch the cold. An electrician friend came round and he said it’s undersized for the the room… but I don’t want to invest in a bigger one for now as they’re around £400. So I’m sitting with fingerless gloves and heated blanket for now ☺️. I’ll go in my bedroom around 7pm as that’s really cosykimwp said:As I said previously, don't try to save money by being cold- but having said that, do you need to heat your hall?Statement of Affairs (SOA) link: https://www.lemonfool.co.uk/financecalculators/soa.phpFor free, non-judgemental debt advice, try: Stepchange or National Debtline. No the bathroom and ensuite haven’t got heaters and the kitchen one doesn’t seem worth putting on as it’s the same style as the lounge which seems to guzzle Kw with not much output of heat. Hopefully the weather forecast is accurate and it’s looking like 10 degrees by Wednesday!4

You can buy an electric heater for an awful lot less than £400 !!
Remember that a 3kw heater produces 3kw of heat whether it costs £20 or £400
You have claimed your 25% Council Tax reduction??
Also check that your water company DD is set taking into account single person occupancy.
If you're flat has any halogen downlighter bulbs get rid of them pretty quick.
Huge energy users.

This cold snap cannot last forever, it will pass in a few weeks and we'll head into spring

One thing I am glad of this chilly winter is having a freezer full of soups and other dishes! I am making my way through them which means my food shop is limited to dairy and fruit. When I run out - I estimate this to be the end of March - I'll just get the soup-maker out and make another (small) batch of 1600ml in 25 minutes flat.
I think I have rendered my 7L stockpot redundant!!No man is worth crawling on this earth.

Well the new lounge heater is out of the question anyway as my car needs new brake discs and pads now 🙄. My son has moved in this week so I’ve told the council I’m no longer eligible for single person discount, but the good news is he will be paying half my household bills, and he’s also not using any hot water as he’s joined the same gym as me too!greyteam1959 said:You can buy an electric heater for an awful lot less than £400 !!
