What did you pay for the property and how much is outstanding on the mortgage?0

We bought it really cheap 55000 & there's around 39000 left on it1

So I've recently spoke to the son who wants half of the valuation of the property, this seems so unfair when his dad only paid 2& 1/2 years on the mortgage around six thousand pounds.
So even thou I got the house at half it's valuation off the council & i still have to pay the rest of the mortgage I've know got to give them approx seventy thousand pounds! It's just not right.0 -

It's just not right.Same advice as before, you need to talk to a solicitor.The son is not entitled to half of the full value of the property at the time of his fathers demise, but he is probably entitled to half of the equity in the property at that time (current value less remaining mortgage).Get advice so you can be sure of your position, especially regarding the valuation and the extent to which the Council's pre-emption rights affect that valuation...
