My partner took out credit cards in my name - without my knowledge - and amassed debts of over £50, 000. I found this out August last year…. And had a stroke. I was in hospital for over 3 months (he did not visit) and then I stayed with my mum and dad. This is when my mum travelled to my home and picked up my post and found out he had been taking out more credit cards in my name and been using them. The debts are large and I am now out of work as a result of the stroke ☹️. I am faced with selling my home - it is part ownership - but I have never sold a home but I want the money to go paying off some of the debts in my name that he has done ☹️.
My reason for this post is because I had cancelled Stepchange because I had no money after losing my job -I applied for PIP but did not get it because I am able to walk, and probably other things ..…probably I did not fill in the form correctly but it is my brain and heart that is defunct!
Is there another debt management company that may help?

^^^^This, absolutely. You will need a crime number from the police to go back to the credit card and evidence that it wasn’t you.
if he’s still doing it, you might also want to look at this.

Also head over to the benefits board to a specific questions about PIP and any other sickness benefits. Depending on when you were rejected, you may be able to appeal and with the proper help you may well get something because it’s not just about physical mobility. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.1 -
Fight this from the fraud angle. Do not go selling property to pay this. Do not accept this as your debt and start making monthly payment to it
What are you going to do next time this happens?
You do need to get copies of your credit files to see what the extent of this is2 -
Agree with what the other posters are saying here, its fraud, pure and simple, and you should not pay one penny of it.
Report to Action Fraud, get a crime number, write to the creditors concerned and tell them what you have told us, they should accept that and you should not have to pay any of this.
Do not make offers to pay, and do not sell your house for this, that is insane, you need to take a step back and think this through from the point of view as a victim of fraud, not as a debtor to these banks.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Thank you all for your replies. I know it is not my debt. I know logically I should go to the police …. I have thought about this.0

Did you appeal the PIP decision, because many cases are won on appeal, ask your local Citizens Advice for help.
I agree with reporting as fraud, why ruin your life for this? If any of the debts were taken out when you were in hospital, that is a hard fact worth mentioning. If it is highly unlikely you will be able to return to your work in the next few years you can also ask for write offs on medical grounds.
If in the end you cannot get some of them written off, after going to the Ombudsman, you can also look at making affordability complaints about them, which would at least remove the interest.

This is fixable, it may take a while, and you may have to jump through a few hoops, but it can be done.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
