A MoneySaver who'd initially been fobbed off by Argos after her son's PlayStation 5 broke has now secured a partial refund worth £430 after following tips in a social media post from Martin Lewis. The MoneySavingExpert.com (MSE) founder had highlighted that your legal rights when goods are faulty are with the shop you purchased from, NOT the manufacturer.

Just sounds like a normal consumer rights issue. Burden of proof was on the lady in question as it was over six months old. She got a report and Argos refunded the cost of the report and gave a partial refund.

Why is this being hailed as special and getting a thread created for it?
It is exactly the same as the dozens of other consumer rights issues that appear daily on these boards.
Item fails outside of guarantee period, user gets a report, retailer refunds based on report less usage.Past caring about first world problems.3 -

TBH, if MSE want to put these posts then fine. But make it a sticky. By the time Christmas arrives this will be down to page 4 & it will be the regulars that are picking up the pieces 🤷♀️Life in the slow lane0

I think the takeaway here is if you contact head office you seem to get a better response, if the person in the example stuck with talking to customer services would thy have been repeatedly told tough luck and Sony was the only option?In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0
