Percy Pig Advent Calendar not Vegan

The Percy Pig Advent Calendar is not Vegan - Bought this for Grandson who has a dairy allergy assuming that all Percy Pig products are Vegan and then discovered it is only the bag of sweets for Xmas day that are Vegan the daily chocolate shapes contain milk. While the ingredient list is correct I'm sure many people will assume that because Percy has been Vegan for a long time that the whole calendar would be dairy free. I will be returning the calendar today for a refund. Fortunately my eagle eyed daughter noticed that the daily chocolates are not dairy free before grandson ate one.

The M&S website states all Percy Pig Sweets are Vegan https://marksandspencer.com/c/food-to-order/percy-pig… clearly this is not true.

If your grandson has a serious dairy allergy, then they probably shouldn't be eating Percy Pigs. The packets warn that whilst the sweets are vegan they are made in an environment where milk may be present.

You need to take care when buying confectionary items for a child with a dairy allergy.

M&S also give important advice generally when buying for a child (or anyone) with an allergy:

While we take every care to ensure product information on our website is correct, products are constantly being redeveloped. As a result, ingredients, dietary, nutritional, allergen and any other information may change. You should always read the product label and not rely solely on the information provided here.

If someone has a severe dairy allergy then vegan might not be suitable anyway, there’s no legal meaning to the term vegan, unlike free from which has to follow processes to be dairy free.
