CCJ for ex-landlord's council tax. Help filling out an N244

Normally someone getting a ccj on a debt like this would hand it to a HCEO, or in some cases, the court bailiff, not a dodgy debt collector.
I share Sourcrates' concern that this is odd. Nevertheless, get the particulars of claim from the court and apply for setaside.
If the claimant is a solicitor, and not the landlord with a solicitor acting, then it is indeed odd.0 -
The claimant is actually the landlord's Ltd but a payment is to be made out to a solicitor's office.fatbelly said:Normally someone getting a ccj on a debt like this would hand it to a HCEO, or in some cases, the court bailiff, not a dodgy debt collector.

Just to update for anyone in a similar situation. I ended up going to court with my ex-landlord and won. The judge ruled that I was not liable to pay council tax on the property as my contract was only for a room not for a whole flat AND while the landlord put a clause in the contract that tried to put the liability on me, they failed to state the exact amount of council tax that would be due. Since she lets students AND non-students stay in the same flat, there are times where council-exempt people are sharing with non-council exempt people so the actual amount of council tax depends on factors outside of the tenants' control. Therefore, she as the landlord remains fully responsible.
Of course I immediately let all of the other tenants she tried to pull this on (and who have actually paid her) about this and hope she gets sued.
Anytime a tenant wins a court case over a shady landlord an angel gets its wings.

Thanks for the update from 2 years ago, I`m glad it went your way in the end, thought the whole thing sounded dodgy from the start.
