Amazon forcing prime membership on customers

I went to buy a few items and selecting the 'choose prime membership' button was the only way to complete the purchase (checkout). I then immediately went and cancelled the membership and phoned up to complain. WATCH OUT.

There is also a "continue without prime" button as well - although it is a bit smaller!3

It's not even that small to be fair... I guess it may display differently via different avenues (app vs web perhaps) but still...
Aim:12mth Emergency Fund -> £14264/£17076 (83%) Aim 2: Mortgage Overpayment -> Paused until other aim fulfilled.3 -
No, they're not.
Though they make navigation through the process as difficult as possible to avoid Prime. But they are not forcing it on anyone.0 -
I just made a purchase ! The continue with purchase option was NOT available UNLESS i selected amazon prime REGARDLESS of what you say here. You did not see what I saw !0

Yes there is because you didn't see what happened !0

Unless you are referring to one of these two - but they also have the "no prime" option - it's just less obvious....1

Please try and listen carefully. I tried the 'continue without prime'. The make a payment button wouldn't get activated unless I chose 'pay prime membership'. It was the only way to get the button to proceed to light up and be activated.0

ok, no one else here can see what you saw - if anyone else has an issue they can confirm, but it looks like a majority of people get the option to pay without having to take out prime - if this post helps someone else then that's good.3
