No Supermarket Customer Service

The fact that a product is approved is really neither here nor there. There have been many products approved which are later found to have been harmful, or over which there is later concern (Glyphosate, for example). There is also the question of whether it is right that something like this takes place virtually unannounced.born_again said:
The product was approved at the start of this year, & no doubt has already been used since then in milk products in Supermarkets.A._Badger said:Why do British supermarkets no longer have customer service departments?
Yesterday, when I read that Arla Foods (which supplies much of the UK's milk under various brands) has been using the experimental and controversial additive 'Bovaer' in the feed given to cows (and thus the milk and dairy products we buy) I tried contacting Aldi and Tesco to complain about this tampering with our food. Neither it seems any longer has a CS department. Instead they send you to an AI 'fake human' website, which cannot answer any more than a basic question,
This means that, unless you resort to social media,.there is no way of communicating with them. Sainsbury's, I believe, closed its CS department long ago, Morrisons followed and now Aldi and Tesco have joined them. It seems our supermarkets no longer want to know what their customers think or want. What a terrible state of affairs!
Perhaps mistakenly, given how much talk there is about organic production on this forum, I assumed that forum users might be interested n what is going into their food. If it isn't a consumer issue then what is?1 -
Your post was aimed at no customer service at supermarkets, not whether forum users might be interested in what is going into their food. Personally I agree with you though and definitely think it’s worth a separate thread xA._Badger said:

I disagree,. If I buy a Morrisons pork chop and it is inedible, to whom do I complain? To Morrisons, naturally. If I buy milk branded Tesco or Aldi, it is their responsibility - not least under consumer legislation. I have complained to Arla but this is clearly a joint project so it is perfectly reasonable to complain to all the parties. The fact that they have made this difficult (see my comments on Aldi's website) is, surely, a consumer issue? Which number do you call Aldi on?sarah1972 said:
I have read the news story thank you.A._Badger said:
If you had read the news story you would have found that the programme for using this additive is a partnership between supermarkets and Arla -= it is not Arla alone. It is between supermarkets “and” Arla so if you feel the need to complain then surely you would also be complaining to Arla ?
But to answer your question, I’ve never had a problem calling customer service at the supermarkets I use.0 -

Your complaint is what Arla are using on their cattle, I can’t see every supermarket saying anything other than thank you for your complaint we will take it on board as it’s an approved product. You said you want to complain about them tampering with our food …. Perhaps mistakenly, given how much talk there is about organic production on this forum, I assumed that forum users might be interested n what is going into their food. If it isn't a consumer issue then what is?I can think of something worse than glyphosate, but I won't go there for obvious reasons! Many will know exactly what I mean.I agree it's not something that should have been introduced almost surreptitiously, but the only message the big corps understand is people taking their business elsewhere. Everything else is just PR, and the OP suggests they're only paying lip service to that.

Out of interest, where did you find that number for Aldi? As I said., I can find no phone numbers on Aldi's website. Even their corporate website lacks contact details. As I say, they appear to be making it very difficult to contact them (next to impossible via email, which is a better medium for a complicated issue).I see this as trend in supermarket trading and not a good one.sarah1972 said:
