    Long story short

I am 34 & have mild autism & learning disabilities

I have been at my job since 2011 (work experience till 2013) then apprenticeship 2013-2015 then full time!

I work for a facilities management company that work for my local council! Always been good to me over the years!

I got my first ever formal disciplinary meeting (no warnings/letters etc) Monday (just gone) due to (last week) a bit of sensitive legal mail sealed & packed correctly that was going out via RM special delivery! fell off bottom of trolly by accident at bottom of ramp near our post room my lovely supervisor found it 2-3 mins after it happened the item went out that day & department never found out!

I got told in the meeting to never to do it again & no post on bottom of trolly (which I accept) and we will send the notes of to HR and they will decide what to do & doubt you will be sack but very slim chance you could be!

Since Monday I have been feeling sad upset crying 😭 most evenings and worrying what the outcome will be & if I will loose my job!

I want reassurance from someone that I will only get a telling off as I am always a hard worker follow the rules & want to do the best I can in my Job!

    Any advice or tips?
I think it is important to ask your work for a meeting to discuss how you are feeling with the presence of a member from HR there. From my experience those in management positions often very differently when HR are in the room and they should realise how they treated you was wrong. hope that helps :)

It was probably a bit "over the top" for dealing with the situation but, with only one occasion like this in so many years, I'd just let it go.

And thanks to @GTR_King for letting us know the outcome.

But what annoys me is another colleague (Van driver) lost some sensitive child’s info going to a school (found it a week later) they got sweet FA no Disciplinary or warnings etc,

& the bit of sensitive mail I dropped was found within 2-3 mins later they went further!

Glad I still got a job & will let it go & learn from this!

Certain people cared how I felt as 100% with me! Certain people didn’t care about how I felt

    thanks for all the replies

Yes, that is definitely the best thing to do.

I would certainly not ask for a meeting involving HR as has been suggested a couple of posts above.

Also the fact that you feel that a colleague was treated more leniently for a similar issue, even if that is correct, is largely irrelevant. You are unlikely to know the full circumstances and, for all you know, his manager may have got into trouble for not taking a firmer line.

Who knows but I am happy it has been sorted!

this work colleague has same manager as me that what annoyed me! What he did was allot worse (child’s info) he lost for a week & found it! Think he hid it somewhere so wouldn’t get caught & deliver it the next week! got sweet FA,

But all good gonna be 100% performance from now on & make sure I 100% do everything right with no mistakes as being watched like a hawk lol 😂

    Happy weekend everyone

how do you know this other person was not disciplined ?

how do you know this other person was not  made subject of a formal warning ?

unless someone is  dismissed  / demoted  as an outcome from a process people don;t know  what happened

Am I missing something.  Why is the presumption something is the employee's fault?

If you use trolleys to move sensitive mail, are they constructed in a way which prevents stuff dropping out?

Yes, this needs investigating   But the starting point is identify root cause. Not apportioning blame.

I was told by my supervisor that he didn’t get any warnings etc!

The top of the Trolly’s are fine! It’s the bottom that’s the issues!

all good for now just got a warning & still working hard
