Nationwide mortgage

My partner has been turned down by Nationwide when she tried to remortgage to get some money for home improvements. They said it was because I had a dro 3 years ago. We do not live together and have absolutely no financial links. There's no financial link on either of our credit reports. She has almost 250k equity in the house too. The only thing is on her bank statement she had received one money transfer from me for £640 that's it. This sounds absolutely bizarre to us? Can anyone advise please

Try a different lender or go to a broker. Nationwide are one of the strictest when it comes to financial associations.
But if the DRO has been satsified for 3 years, it is within nationwides criteria, if it is 2 year 350 days then it is outside of their criteria.

  • Yes but why should it affect her? We don't live together, we have absolutely no financial connection.

Your in a relationship and there is money going between your accounts. There is a connection.
I do agree with you btw, If you do not live together and have no joint accounts and nothting on the credit report (any of the 3 credit reports) links you, then it seems incredibly harsh. I transfer money to my mates and vice versa after a curry. But it doesnt mean were in a relationship.

Have you checked all 3 credit reports?
Has there ever been a financial link?
Did you do a joint DIP beforehand?

  • Yes we said exactly the same we both transfer money to friends and vice versa. We've checked all 3 reports yes no connection because there has never been one. We didn't do a DIP beforehand.

Im out of ideas. If you have never been financially linked then I am stumped.
All I would say is that this is why I tell customers to be completely open and upfront with me. You would be amazed at the information lenders have available to them.

But it is hard to argue it as they are not wrong (You and I might not agree with their decision from what you have said. But according to their criteria and Terms, you went to the wrong lender). Sometimes that happens, you just have to go to Plan B.

  • But get this.  3 years ago she sold her old house and got a new mortgage with Nationwide to buy a bigger house whilst we were together and my dro was still active and there were no issues at all. My DRO has been satisfied now for over two years

A, it is possible there were no links established as they deem them to be at that point in time.
B, that was three years ago.
    C, lending criteria can change.
D, it does not matter, move on. Get her to speak to a broker and see what options are available on the whole market.
