Nationwide… Journey

Hi

we found our perfect home and had an offer accepted. Our broker submitted our mortgage application to Nationwide after doing lots of affordability checks on 25/11 - we got a confirmation text at 6pm that night and noticed that hard searches had taken place. We got a text yesterday morning about a valuation being booked for 26/11 that didn’t require us there.

Just wondered if anyone had been on the same journey with Nationwide and had any idea on what would be next and how soon we might hear?

thanks!

    Valuation received
    Valuation assessed and accepted
    Offer issued.

Timescale two to three days if you had an 'accept' and not a 'review' at DIP stage. If you had a review, it may take a day or two longer to be signed-off/

  • My broker applied for a remortgage with Nationwide on 15th November.  I got an offer issued on 20th November.  It ended up being a desktop valuation though, but even so, they were pretty d*mn quick!
  • That’s great! They seem to be moving fast so I’m hoping they come back soon with some good news. Appreciate the replies!

Clearly just over anxious and a worrier!
  • After a little hold up with the seller’s surveyor over the home report, Nationwide confirmed our mortgage offer today. Got a text and an email.

Thanks for the advice and help when I was panicking! Assuming the next steps are pretty straight forward

I applied with Nationwide on 17/10/24.

Had the valuation 28/10/24 - which I have to say was highly annoying to only be available 9-5 Mon-Fri, and they also pressure you to having it done within 7 days of mortgage application. Amongst work, going on holiday, and basically having better things to do with my time than sit around for a mortgage valuer to come over, I was fairly peeved off with this.

Then didn't hear anything for at least 4 weeks, before they asked for building certificate for loft conversion I have done on the home, and then offer 3/12/24.

    So long but straightforward.

For us, the whole process with Nationwide has been lightning quick - 6 working days from DIP to offer issue for a move.

    Our timeline
    • Thur 28/11
DIP approved (second DIP after we had problems amending the original address details). Appointment with mortgage advisor arranged.
    • Sun 1/12
Emailed mortgage advisor with information and documents requested in confirmation email.
    • Mon 3/12
Video call with mortgage advisor. Application submitted. Hard searches done. Valuation booked in with sales rep (buying a new build) for Thurs.
    • Wed 5/12
Email requesting information about recent pay rise, replied same day.
    • Fri 7/12
Notification from Nationwide stating the valuation report had been received followed immediately by another stating an offer had been issued.

I think it may helped that our current mortgage is with Nationwide, we're using the equity as deposit and we're porting our current deal. But even so, I'm impressed with how quick they've been.
