Which of the two would you recommend at their respective price points?

Sony WH-1000XM4 at £179.99

Or

Sony WH-CH720 at £64?

I know the XM4s are the better pair and those are the ones I actually want, but for only £64 is there a case to get the CH720s instead given the fact that it has many of the same features, still sound great and have a longer battery life? I'll still need to buy a case for them so should factor that in. Maybe £10-£15 from eBay. So a £100 difference in price.

What are your guys' thoughts?

I know nothing about either, but if it were me and I could afford it I would go for the ones that I really want.!
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.
  • I recently purchased a pair of WH-CH720 as a gift.

The recipient (musician and music fan) is very happy with them.

They're very much mid-range headphones but they're well built and look sturdy enough for prolonged everyday use.

For the price, I think they're excellent value.

I'm sure the WH1000 will sound significantly better but suspect that the longevity will be similar for both models.

I don't think you'll go far wrong with either tbh
