Allergy?

Not-Quite-MiL has just come home from work. Within a few minutes she was complaining of itching skin... now she says her nose is completely blocked. Her face is a bit puffy too. Seems like a reaction to me... but to what?

She may have eaten a few nuts since she got home... but she's 60 and hasn't ever been allergic to them before, and has been eating them all over the Christmas period with no problems.

There was a lavender vaporiser on earlier (real lavender oil, not some chemical stuff)

She says she's feeling a bit better now... but should we be looking hard at what might of triggered it, in case the next time is worse?
My TV is broken!

Make sure she carries a supply of anti-histamines with her and that she takes one as soon as she feels the first itching. This will calm her down and give time to try to work out what is different in the house and what might be causing the allergy.

Lavender oil can cause allergic contact dermatitus, so it is possible she is reacting to the vaporiser.

Took my 8year old Granddaughter to see her Uncle in York. He has just bought a cat and within an hour of being in contact with the cat my granddaughter had puffy eyes and her chest was wheezing. It was really quite frightening. We were meant to be staying the night but did'nt. She
obviously has an allergy to cats. Do you think the anti-histamines would have helped her? Chemists were closed as it was a Saturday evening. Once we headed home she was a lot better.
