Hand warmers

Options
Can anyone recommend the best type of hand warmers?
I decided to buy some for when I take my dog for his walk, we're out about 40 minutes or so each day, and I wanted some to fit inside my gloves.
Not sure whether to choose rechargable or any other kind.
Does anyone have any experience using these, or advice to offer?
Thank you

Wife always has cold hands so has two hand warmers, the rechargeable battery type, which also double as a powerbank if needed. They're to big to go in gloves though!

Did have some disposable gel ones that would go into gloves but could easily go through a pack a week given any given day it was easy to use 4

    Thanks for your help.
I prefer the type that fit into gloves, if possible.  When walking the dog it's difficult to hold onto anything else.  Are there any hand warmers that fit into gloves which would last for a few walks?  The rechargable type seem a bit large for my needs.

You get the gel type that you boil to reset, they last about 30-45 minutes depending on your sensitivity. Sometimes they falsely trigger whilst cooling them after resetting which is a bit irritating.

The one use ones lasted 8 hours according to the pack but was more like 5 hours at the heat level she likes and once they're on there's no way to pause/stop them hence she could use 4 in a day.

The other option is heated gloves which probably would be the best option but she thought they were all ugly and despite the level of complaints about the cold the looks are important (plus they're then a one trick whereas the hand warmers sometimes get wrapped up in a scarf at the back of the neck etc

Thanks very much @DullGreyGuy you've given me lots of food for thought.  I thought there might be a type that you could just slip in gloves and you could use for several walks.  It seems none are as straightforward as I hoped.

You can get heated gloves which will run from a power bank in your pocket. Similarly heated body warmers etc.

I have a rechargeable electric handwarmer, about the size of a bar of soap, as I am involved in an outdoor activity that needs excellent dexterity and can't be done in gloves. It is useful to a point but the battery life on a charge is far less than the manufacturer's claim. Depending on how long you want to be out in the cold obviously one option is to have two or three. They are gently warm within a minute of being switched on.

Thanks for your input @Undervalued a rechargable handwarmer might be an idea.  We're usually walking for between 40 to 45 minutes so this might be just the job.  I will have a look and check them out.
    Thank you
  • Do you have quality winter gloves? I have Sealskinz which are warm and waterproof and have good grip. I suffer with Reynauds syndrome and have never had problems since wearing them, other than being slightly too warm!

I usually wear fingerless gloves, as when walking my dog I pick up his mess, along with any litter I find on our travels.  I don't want to keep taking off my gloves every time I do this.  I generally push up the gloves when picking up stuff as it would be awkward keep taking off ordinary gloves.

I thought that a small gel like pad would fit inside the gloves, but it seems they are either disposable and can only be used once, or they need to be recharged, or boiled in water before use.  I wondered whether there were any other alternatives available.

Will definitely check out the Sealskinz gloves, which you mentioned.  Thanks for the input.
