Apologies if I should have just continued from another thread.
I have the 18 digit number from HMRC in order to pay missed years. It's about £4k i need to pay. Can anyone confirm or otherwise, that I can pay in a couple of instalments. Clearly they wont be over a long period as the full amount needs to be in by April '25.
I thought I knew the answer, but cannot find it in T & Cs.
Thanks for any help.
(I didnt even try ringing HMRC, assuming they're still flooded...with calls.

I believe the 18 digit number specifically links to the missing years and amount you have chosen to pay and when you do so they expect that exact amount.

You'll have to bite the bullet and get on the dog and bone.

  • Hi, thanks for your advice; I was planning on paying online, in 2 or 3 hits; maybe I will have to try the dreaded phone line to check the facts. By the time I get through it may be april already.

If you pay using the "new" online functionality to fill gaps, you can choose which years to pay but if you use an 18-digit number it is as Ayr_Rage describes.
