This weekend I want to work some more on a portrait I was originally trying to finish before the wedding. DS is starting to look good - but his partner still looks like a cartoon figure!! It's one of those where you start blocking in underneath colours and gradually refine but still... It would be nice to resolve. I'm seeing them in two weeks and it would be lovely if it was done.
I'm still debating buying a printer as it would make doing my art easier. But I get caught up in research and then can't make a decision.
The house is deteriorating again so I need to resolve the mess - but I've tried starting with that - e.g. last weekend - and spent all weekend trying to make myself do it and did no art. This weekend I plan to start with art - make some progress on that - and hopefully do some tidying and decluttering too. My house has to be 'right' for two weeks today as I have DS and his partner coming and one of my sisters and her family.
DD picked up her stuff from here the other day - but left 3 or 4 bags of stuff for me to take to charity which are filling my boot - so I want to resolve that today. I rang the jeweller on my silver ring - and it would be £60 - but I had £20 in my brain so I'm unsure - but the ring itself is gorgeous - I just wonder if I should ask another jeweller for a price as that was more than double what a jeweller had said on another ring I nearly bought.
I'm tempted to go out to lunch - I've used up everything I batch cooked - and don't know if I have the energy to start again yet. I also need to order more groceries.
In theory I get paid Monday but it was already in my bank by midnight which is nice. I need to do the full money shuffle next.
Have a good weekend all.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

I think put the art first then do the house second...

I'm in awe of you being able to paint a portrait!
I've been doing 10 minute bursts of housework related tasks or de-cluttering tasks and I'm finding that I am quite happy to do it and it is making a difference. Set a timer for 10 minutes or make yourself a 10 minute playlist or listen to a 10 minute podcast.Hope you treated yourself to a nice lunch.4 -
Podcasts are definitely my way of getting through housework - keeps my brain busy and occupied!Start mortgage date: August 2022; Start mortgage amount: £240,999; Original mortgage free date: August 2056

Thanks Merlin, Jwil, DIA, Blackcats
Yes I use podcasts or listening to books to get me through decluttering / cleaning / tidying. I took the kids surplus stuff to charity a week ago.
DIA - I've struggled to hold on to a cleaner more than a few weeks here. So I decided to focus on radically decluttering and organising in the hope that a) either I can keep it clean and tidy (not quite there yet) or b) it's in a good enough state that prospective cleaners don't run away at the first opportunity.
DD came this weekend and helped me collapse a table which I then took to the tip. It makes the space function so much better - i.e. with less stuff rather than more. I treated her to a meal and gave her some £. It was quite a lengthy trip for her to come and help and it was much appreciated.
Blackcats - I'm still learning how to do portraits - but I'm improving. I'm pretty pleased with it. I still need to adjust the hair and the background but I think the hardest part - capturing a likeness has been achieved - so I feel more relaxed. It also feels warm and intimate - and I hope radiates joy and acceptance - so hopefully the 'subjects' will be pleased. I took the photo - and captured the perfect moment for a 'candid' shot - which is what it is based on. I'd like their consent to use it as an advertising tool once it's complete. I'm hoping that it could then result in commission work which while scary would be the logical next step in growing my 'brand'.
I still haven't launched my business. I have registered for data prot (£52) so that's another compliance box ticked. I've found an insurer - around £200 - but want to check if that only covers the media side or whether I'd be covered for art too. If not, I've seen that elsewhere for £90ish. I'm hoping once I upload those docs I can get the bank to finally sign off on my account. I also need to get new tax activation codes as the other one ran out 10 days ago... With ai help I've drafted some newsletters - so other parts of my launch plan are coming together. It even suggested something I could use as a lead magnet.... The world is changing fast!!! Harnessing the tools available is the only way I'll ever going to launch though as there is so much to do!!
I need to update my £. While some money went into savings automatically - with my business spends I'm likely to have to raid savings.
On social connection I went and met someone for lunch that I'd met through an art group. Progress for me.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

That all sounds like steady progress to me and am I right in thinking that this reflects a positive shift in your relationship with DD since she moved out? 😊
Was the lunch good?
