Fairy cakes

I made some earlier for DS but forgot I put them in the oven  so they are rock hard on top  I have made him some more which are alot softer :D But I dont want to just throw the first batch away...So is anyone got any ideas what fairy cakes with hard tops can be used for?

Thanks :)

  • Like the others have said, they'd be fine for trifles. If you clingfilm them well then whack them in the freezer it's possible that they'll soften a fair bit when you defrost them, they always go a bit squishy on top. They might be fine to eat if you put plenty of buttercream on top :)
  • Thanks Nicifer_noonoo and Memorygirl :)

I think I might break them up add a bit of Jam and cover with warm custard for DHs pudding :)

  • Trifle is the way to go here ;) or soak in rum and serve with cream, yum

why has the rum gone ? ...oh, that's why :D

ooh, I'm having another thought here, what about soaking in strong coffee and serving with cream ?
  • Thanks everyone..I served some with Jam and custard and froze the rest for another day.
