I made some earlier for DS but forgot I put them in the oven  so they are rock hard on top  I have made him some more which are alot softer
But I dont want to just throw the first batch away...So is anyone got any ideas what fairy cakes with hard tops can be used for?
Thanks

You could cut off the hard tops and have a bowl full of the soft bits in custard

Like the others have said, they'd be fine for trifles. If you clingfilm them well then whack them in the freezer it's possible that they'll soften a fair bit when you defrost them, they always go a bit squishy on top. They might be fine to eat if you put plenty of buttercream on top0

Trifle is the way to go here
or soak in rum and serve with cream, yum
why has the rum gone ? ...oh, that's why
ooh, I'm having another thought here, what about soaking in strong coffee and serving with cream ?0 -
