Personally I would not have a SIPP with one company, when in fact there was another company running the SIPP.Most of the big platforms have a third party company running the software now.
For example, Scottish Widows, Aviva, Quilter, Abrdn (ex Std Life), James Hay use FNZ. AJ Bell also use FNZ as well as GBST. White labelling within that is a growth area as well.
in 2014, nearly 60% of the platforms used proprietary software. By 2022 less than 20% did.
FNZ powered just over 10% of the platforms in 2015 but by 2023, just over 50%.
Recent trends have seen white labelling become even more popular.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. It seems from a few posts I have read if you have a problem with an Iweb Sipp, then they sometimes blame AJ bell.1 -
It seems from a few posts I have read if you have a problem with an Iweb Sipp, then they sometimes blame AJ bell. From my experience of platforms, the provider you think you are with is often a passenger when it comes to the platform software. Buying someone else's software means making compromises and when the software provider has issues, the provider is the one that takes the blame but in reality, its the software provider that has to fix it.However in these cases if something goes wrong with a pension you have with Scottish Widows ( for example), they will deal with it and not refer you to FNZ,They will not refer you to FNZ but they wont be able to fix an issue as it will require FNZ to fix it unless it is a frontend problem or staff issue. IFAs will often be told where the fault is, but I could never imagine SW blaming FNZ if it was a client asking directly.
