Help! Mortgage application

Can anyone advise where I’m going wrong here? I’m downloading straight from HMRC I can’t see or understand what they mean. My lender says my broker will know, but my broker doesn’t understand either. Can anyone advise?

hope you are well, thank you for your patience!

I have been back and forwards with the underwriters, they are still stating that the documents are still not correct:

'1. The tax calculation confirms £9603.38 tax due before interest whereas the tax return doesn't show the total income tax, class 2 and class 4 national insurance contribution as this line is missing off the document to match it to? the 2023-2024 balancing payment shows as £9855.38? Please provide matching documentation.

2. If you look at 2023 tax overview it shows £22066.04 and this matches the tax return where it says income tax, Class 2 and Class 4 national insurance contributions and the balance payment. we require matching documents for year ending 2024.'

No I do my own accounts, I’ve just sat and looked at my return and overview and can see there is a discrepancy in the two documents of about £300 ish. I don’t know why this is, I just file my tax returns.

Check your communications from HMRC, it sounds like you missed off, or misstated some information on your tax return, but HMRC already had the correct numbers and used those when calculating the tax due.
They will usually tell you when this happens.

Thanks I think I’ve figured it, the difference is £252 marriage allowance added after I submitted the tax return! Hopefully the explanation will be satisfactory

If that's the case, you should now be able to download new tax calculation and tax year overview that match. Lenders normally won't proceed if the tax due on one isn't replicated on the other.

No unfortunately I cannot download it, as it was HMRC that made the amendment. I have to wait for a copy in the post. Apparently if I had of amended it, I’d have been able to download the corrected calculation, but if they amend it, it just gets sent out in the post, unfortunately I have misplaced it somewhere. 5-10days for a copy! But at least I know I can be rectified. Discovered this after being on the phone to HMRC for an hour this morning
