Capquest debt letter

Afternoon. Newbie here. In July I got a letter saying some company had brought a shop direct debt I have. This was from 2008. Now I don't remember this at all. The only shop direct I ever had was 2014. I needed up paying that off on credit card.
Well today I got another one saying I still owe £300 and that some of the details in first letter were wrong so they sending me a new letter. The debts being managed by opos. No there is nothing on my Experian files. My score is over 900. I've never had contact from them before July. What do I do. I'm reluctant to make any contact. In my head they have no idea I've received the letter ha. It's funny they say if I pay now they will take £77. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Sorry for the essay

The first response to a letter demanding payment of a debt is always to send the prove-it letter to them.

The link is in my signature, click on it, and edit the letter to your circumstances.

Do everything in writing, never phone them, see what they send back to you.

Proof would normally be in the form of a copy of a credit agreement/statements of account etc, that you would have originally signed, although a signature is not required for these purposes, some kind of evidence of your liability is necessary.

Yes, 6 years is the limitation period, but you need to be certain which debt this is, so prove-it letter first, then, when you have the details of the debt, you can send the statute barred letter if appropriate.

Best to do this in the right order.
