Dear All, Am hoping for some advice on how to deal with ACI. They wrote to me a few weeks ago stating i owed money to Intrum Uk Finance. I may well owe it .. but it would be about 15 years ago and tbh i cannot recall. I ignored the letter and then again a week later another letter to say they would send a company called verify to call at my house. Last night a guy turned up to hand deliver a letter. What would be the best way to dea with matter … im not saying i dont owe the money.But i certainly dont recognise it. any help would be greatfully recieved. thank you

Send the prove-it letter to get details of the debt.

Sounds like it may well be statute barred, assuming you have not made payment to the debt within the last 6 years?
If that is the case a further letter informing them of such will put the matter to bed.

Thank you sourcrates … would you suggest sending prove it first? And await a reply before sending SB letter. I havent made any payments at all

Yes, there are loads of threads like this. ACI/intrum must have bought a load of dodgy debts.

Prove-it first then statute barred letter or that hybrid letter from the sticky threads that says I have no idea what this is but from the info you have supplied it would be statute barred anyway.
