I hope this is posted in the right place! If not im sorry!!
Im looking for a cheap Air conditioner. (Maybe about £100 ish) if it is not possible at that price what is the cheapest one out there?
I would even consider buying a second hand one

Last Friday my local Homebase had loads of 'portable' A/C units on sale from £140 (that's before the 10% was taken off).
If you're considering buying a unit - I've had a portable type for a few years now and wouldn't be without it - take a particular note on how easy it is to empty.
If after weighing up in your mind you decide to go ahead with a purchase, buy new - not second hand.0 -
mssjab - do you mean the Homebase one has to be emptied, and doesnt vent out say a window ?0

The hot air produced by the air conditioner is vented through a window/wall. The water collected/produced by the condenser is stored inside the unit and must be emptied when full (the unit will turn off when full)
The Homebase A/C is a 'portable' and this is usually the arrangement with such units. If you want a unit that is totally automatic then I think you'll find that the units (either one piece or split) must be permanently fixed to an outside wall.
The units that I've seen in Homebase have a small capped off flexible tube on the rear at the bottom to allow them to be drained. My suggestion would be to find out how easy, and convenient, you'd find this to do.
By way of an example, my own portable A/C-Dehumidifier unit has an easily removeable container which holds 3 litres of water. On a really hot day with the unit running continueously it will need emptying twice in a 24hr period.
I trust this helps.0 -
