Dealing with late partners debts

I am not sure if anyone can help with this.
My partner of 26 years died in February and I am in the process of dealing with the Estate. We owned the property I live in as Joint Tenants. I understand the property passes to me. I am still paying the remainder of the mortgage. However, there was a charge put on the property in 2007 in my partner's name only but it appears that the company that put the charge on the property are no longer trading. Asset Link (No 5) Limited. I need to contact them to find out the value of the charge but when I tried they would not give me any information as it was not in my name. Does anyone have any ideas on how to proceed please as I cannot organise my partner's affairs without this. Thank you

Did you explain you were the executor (assuming you are)? You may need to get past the "computer says no" attitude of the first line of staff, if necessary raise a complaint if only to get it on the desk of somebody more helpful.
Do you mean Asset Link Capital (No. 5) Limited? They're certainly still an active company:

I'd also advise that your go over to the debt free wannabee forum and read "Charging Orders - the Myth", which is the first stickie on the forum. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing1
