Washing curtains gone wrong

  • I washed separate linings from Dunelm that said they were washable, but despite following all the instructions parts of them disintegrated. I wish they didn't say things are washable when they are clearly not!
  • I don’t think most people wash curtains within the timescale where you can take them back if they’re not made from a sufficiently robust fabric. I’d be really angry!

Frankly I'd be saying this is a failure of a product lasting a reasonable amount of time - no matter what their return policy might be.  You should be able to wash them after a few months and them not fall apart.  I would side with the store if you'd had this happen the 5th time you'd washed them in 6 years or similar but once?  and after a few months?  No.

  • I would get my scissors out and cut all the lining off.
The lining is part of the curtain. I don't know exactly how it's done but it looks like it's a rubber-like coating. There's no way to remove the rest of it, it doesn't even peel off, when I pull on it, it stretches until it snaps.
It was from ebay but the company is UK based and they also have a website.

As long as you've got the receipt you should take them back as this was the first time you washed them.
    Better is good enough.
