No P45/or Final Payslip After Contract End - Does it Matter?

I recently ended a 3 month contract of employment. All the payslips were online, I was deleted from the online system, so therefore cannot view the final payslip.

I would like to view the final payslip to confirm a) The hours paid, agree with the hours I physically did, and b) To see if I was paid for unused holiday pay.

I have spent many years as self employed so I am not used to this sort of thing. Can I demand a physical payslip from them? Also, is a P45 even relevant anymore. I am guessing that the P45 info is passed to HMRC via the internet.

I have access to an HMRC tax account online, if that helps in this situation.

Thanks.

They won't have deleted you from the system, it's more likely just your login access has been suspended.  You've definately a right to see your final payslip - and as far as I know a new employer would still want to see your P45.  Ask your ex-employer for a copy - they should be able to provide an electronic copy or give you an email address where you can request this from.
Indecision is the key to flexibility :)

You can see some limited information from each payment reported to HMRC.

I think its taxable pay (which is often less than what you actually earned), any tax deducted and any NI deducted.  And maybe the tax code used.

Was the payslip issued after your last day?

I only ask because I made a point of downloading payslips and emailing them to myself so I could save them somewhere I'd be able to access them after leaving.

It should be possible to have that and P45 emailed to a personal address, but I'd recommend asking rather than demanding, at least to begin with.

I would say it’s essential you get them, and they should have no trouble providing them if you just ask.

I may tell you based on information given how I might approach an employment dispute case, but you should always seek advice from your own Union representative. If you don't have one, get one!
