I think a bit part of improving or refining budgets is identifying where you are ‘leaking’ money … This is an important review for you 😊👏

    Had a good weekend

Went for a walk in the woods with the OH on Saturday and enjoyed the Autumn colours and crunchy leaves underfoot. OH treated me to a coffee in the village cafe too. Popped into the village Autumn fair and treated myself to some locally made face cream and smoked cheese. A small spend to treat myself for being so good on the spendy front this week.
Spent the afternoon uploading more of my excess fabric on eBay and watched China Town on DVD in the evening with OH as it is his favourite movie.

Sunday I did more on eBay and MIL came over in the afternoon to drop some of their grandaughter's toddler clothes off. I might try putting them on my private eBay account to build up the reviews there and take advantage of the free selling. MIL also had two bin bags of her daughter's clothes, so I will use them to test out Vinted.

Today is a work day so not much happening. Watched a few YouTube videos on improving your eBay sales then went for a short walk around the village and popped in to see DS. Now my diary is updated I shall continue making up my Christmas scrap boxes ready to upload into my shop.

Have a good evening wannabes

First lot of Christmas scrap boxes uploaded. Took me all yesterday evening to iron all the fabric.

Today I saw the Dr and Physio.  Dr agrees that my persistent cough may an allergy as my previous tests were all clear.  Physio was pleased with the progress of my hip ligaments and gave me some further exercises to do.

Today is another NSD for me although I've got my weigh-in at SL, I won't need to spend anything :-)

Am still waiting for my final creditor to get back to me about my settlement offer. The others have agreed and have been paid. Think I will phone them tomorrow and chase them up, it will be good to get it paid off.

In the meantime, it's clearing my excess stuff and putting it on eBay and keeping hold of the pennies :-)

nothing else to report - I have a very quiet life !

It's been almost a week since I posted an update.

I have been busy putting my unwanted bits and bobs on eBay and happily have made a few sales. As it is mostly crafting stuff I am going to save the proceeds in my 'hobbies' pot for the future! Made a couple of errors on the postage so one item I made 3p on but at least it wasn't a loss!

SIL  finally dropped the unwanted clothes off and I have washed them and they are waiting to be ironed before putting on eBay or Vinted - not sure which at the moment as both are free for sellers.

Am half a pound off of losing my first Stone at SW! So hopefully I will do it tomorrow :-)

3 more NSDs to claim as well for last Friday, yesterday and today now up to 12 !

Succumbed to hot chocolate Sat and Sun when we were out walking, to warm ourselves up, so no NSD's over the weekend!

off to upload some more onto ebay!

    Have a good evening all!

  • Oh my, it's nearly a month since I last updated!

Time flies when for a busy bee!

My first month of zero balance budgeting went well, although my estimate of spending on food was way out! The main budget was accurate but my frequent trips to the corner shop added another £100!!! Have increased food budget to £250 and need to avoid the local shop.

December budget has not been so well stuck to as I hadn't included Christmas shopping in the budget at all! Luckily eBay sales have done well and so far this month have covered the prezzie shopping, so it may not be as bad as I think. The reconciliation at the end of the month will be interesting :-)

Had a trip to Devon for MIL's memorial at the beginning of the month which I had budgeted for happily. OH and I are very grateful as it is her good money management and generosity that has given us both this final chance to sort ourselves out. I thanked her and promised not to waste the chance she has given us. RIP Nana  x

Other than that the month has been spent posting eBay sales and sewing Christmas presents, for the younger cohort of the family, and re-useable gift bags.

Rather annoyingly I've been waiting nearly a month for work to reimburse my travel expenses for a business trip to Manchester last month of nearly £400 which has meant money has had to be shuffled around in my savings pots and will need to be sorted once I finally get it back. Won't be agreeing to pay myself and reclaim again, next time they can pay or I'm not going!

It transpired during the meeting that I have been passed over for promotion again, as they announced a restructure of the team and had promoted 3 others above me without advertising the new roles or asking for applicants. I was not happy!  Anyhow it has made me decide that I'm wasting my time trying to further my career at my age and after some looking at the figures I have decided to apply to reduce my hours. With the mortgage being paid off next month we should be ok. I might look for something more rewarding next year too.

~Anyhow time for sleep, so have a good night and I will have a catch up of MSE tomorrow x

Just to play devil’s advocate to your work situation. Why not update your CV and make yourself visible to recruiters? It sounds like you are being shut down by your current employer because your face doesn’t fit rather than because you lack ability or energy. Take your talent elsewhere, where it will be appreciated more?
