Question on CGT second property

in Cutting tax
My friend just sold a second property with no allowances. He paid his CGT immediately.
I wanted to do the same but lived in my property for half the time and claiming lots of home improvements with associated evidence. Mine says 0% to pay and in review.
Does anyone know how long this review takes and if this is a standard process? I know what the figure should be.
Thanks

impossible to say how long it will take HMRC, they have a workload "problem"2

In answer to my question...it took them 3 days (including the weekend), so paid it off this morning. Pretty slick.
They may well come back in 5 years time with a bill!

depends if they decide there is enough potential tax at stake to justify investigating your "lots of home improvements" any deeper than already done .Cobbler_tone said:They may well come back in 5 years time with a bill!

I claimed on around 50% of the gain. Half of it from residential relief and half from improvements over a 20 year period as occupier and landlord. There was £6k of it from 2002 that I didn't have evidence for but listed it on the spreadsheet. Everything else had full detail and associated receipts. Maybe in the scale of things I am a very little fish and absolutely nothing 'dodgy' in terms of anything claimed. I'm £8k lighter anyway.Bookworm105 said:
