Dopes anyone know of an action i might take as this needs exposing
speak to an advocate /  or other  appropriate adult. Some of the claims and assertions you make in  your post are wrong  or irrelevant to the  case at hand ( regarding corporate structure  and ownership, or  the sales of Insurance by Carphone Warehouse to mobile phone customers) , others may be determined to be defamatory.

The story  you tell in your post seems to be confused  and  jumps about  making links that a court would question

unless of course you  wish to go  down the route that  the contracts you  entered with Currys plc were invalid because you  do not have the Mental Capacity to  enter  those contracts.

There is also the   question of at  what point, if any, Currys plc  became aware that you consider yourself to be a Vulnerable Adult ( and if  indeed  you meet the legal definitions thereof  - https://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2002/446/regulation/2/made)

     - as   to my  mind  and the view of any  other observers your Autism is only relevant if you wish
    a. to claim to be a Vulnerable Adult  and therefore recieve   enhanced customer services , OR
    b. to assert you cannot enter valid contracts becasue you lack the understanding  and Mental Capacity to do so OR
    c. have been discriminated against on the basis of Disability ( per Equality Act 2010)

OP, what you should do is go to Curry's to see the item you want, then go online and see if you can buy it cheaper elsewhere either through a cashback site, or at an alternative supplier who may offer at a lower price or with some other deal e.g. extended warranty. When I replaced my TV about 10 years ago, the place to look was Richer Sounds and John Lewis for the long warranties, Richer Sounds have good stores, and someone like Hughes Direct (online) usually had the best price and a cashback offer. Not sure if it's still the same, but it's a bit of legwork to save you some cash. I ended up buying the TV I wanted, that I'd seen in Currys, for about £200 less with a discount and cashback.
Well, the trouble with that approach is that you seem to want the bricks & mortar store and all the benefits of being able to touch, see, feel, hear the item before purchase, but not willing to pay for the costs of that level of service so then want to go elsewhere and buy simply the lowest price.  The result can only be that the brisk & mortar stores all disappear.
That's not the 'trouble' at all. It's not my concern. They'll get plenty of people walking through the door to buy their stuff, whereas people who want to do a bit of extra work can sometimes save money by going elsewhere.

I think the [new poster] has bigger than normal Currys problems though.

Apologies @Andrea15 , I meant the new OP from this month, who took over your original thread from last year. I will amend.

This has been their policy forever - and they've only bowed to the newer distance selling rules only.  I used to work at Electronics Boutique around 2001-2002.  Parents were forever coming in upset that their kids had unwrapped a present of a game, only to discover it wasn't for the console they actually had.  I'd take it in the back for them, rewrap it on our shink-wrap machine so they could return it, and then advise them in future to buy from us as we would always price match and had a (I think it was 30 days) policy where you could bring back pretty much anything opened for a full refund - even games.

I am autistic and like most of my generation i am now 74 had never heard of it so got no help.  It always felt distanced suppressing emotion hard to make friends or avoid abuse.  Since COVID the world has become colder, well known brands sold and replaced using the same name.  Currys sold to CARPHONE WAREHOUSE 10 but always had a bad reputation.  Promising refunds only if the box is unopened, not marking reduced prices on the shop floor.  The make there money from insurance a scam admitted by carphone warehouse but making them £444 million pounds.   They charged me £70.50 to send my PCto repair and argued a diagnosis they never gave.  Staff admitted they replace then repair what they take and use in future repairs and in my case at full price as new. The insurance state brand new parts so why repair damaged paert to reuse.  Why not repair as it is what is paid for.  I asked for my motherboard back after they replaced itbut didn't get it.  Though they promised or would refund but they refused.  They then said they threw my motherboard away away which explained the damage they then said after retrieving it.  Only they said i was told hen it was refused.  If the damage had been there then my PC would not have started but it did when i took it in.  Every part is now said broken and my PC could not start. I want to take them to court but i am ill another reason they robbed me and feel the many many people who want the same are afraid of the expense.  I cannot bring myself to collect my PC knowing it was stripped when a simple repair and i was short changed by the staff..  I have had insomnia some 28 years and a multitude of other ills now including COVID basically bedridden.  The stress of this abuse seems typical of Britain today as i found my GP and dentists unregistered causing more harm.  CURRYS saw a chance after lockdown as did criminal dentists to offer items for inspection but somehow already with old parts' as if set to break. which means unboxing and reboring to a high standard. Insurance can be halved if too much as items are under warranty of three years so they gety new parts but we don't.  Is there no one who is willing to fight this criminal organisation.
