It's weeird isn't it? My OH smokes rollies which I can just about tolerate (as an ex [heavy] smoker of 8 years I hate the smell) but we had a friend here for a few hours last night who smokes tailor-mades and the room REEKS  this morning.
Even though its only 5C outside I've got the patio door flung open and I've sprayed Febreeze on soft furnishings in desperation, but it doesn't seem to be doing much good.
Other than throw him outside for a fag next time he comes have you got any suggestions please?

have you got any zoflora? If you have then put some in an old spray bottle with some water and a drop of vinegar (aggie says use vodka) and squirt round the room, leave the wondows and doors open as long as you can and kick him out for a fag next time !;) My sympathies as I hate the smell too and won't let anyone smoke in our house, don't even have ashtrays. Good luckSave £12k in 2012 no.49 £10,250/£12,000

Yeah. Next time: throw him outside.
I am a smoker, I owned my own house, I lived alone. I smoke outside religiously. At the houses of others, even when they are INSISTING I smoke indoors I still insist on going outside.
I think the smoking ban in public places makes it easier for you in future to say "Oi - outside. You smelly git"
Hope you get it sorted, I HATE the smell of old fags.0 -
It's funny though, it bothers me even when I smell it outside
.
I'll try zoflora, thanks.:wave:0 -
Hi,
Sprinkle bicarb soda on your carpets and leave for an hour then vacuum off. The bicarb absobs the smell.0 -
Buy one of those vaporisers .... the one where you put a tealight (small candle) in the bottom and then put some pot-pourri oil in the top.
Buy the Frankinsense & Myrrh oil from M&S - has been on offer at 3 for the price of 2 in the run up to Christmas. It might be even cheaper in the sale - but they cost £2 each, so each one (with the BOGOF) is only £1.33 (have I got the maths right?).
The great thing about the oil is that it's absorbed by all your soft furnishings - which is what the cigarette smoke does.
The fragrance will get into anything absorbant - fabric, wood, carpet etc ......
There are two smokers and 3 dogs in our house. Even I (with a nose accustomed to the "bad" smells) can smell this fragrance when I enter the houseWarning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0 -

I'll try this too. As luck would have it I've got one of these. I'll do it now!
I've got two dogs and one of them is a bit windy at the mo  .
Everything should soon smell pleasantly of apples.....:wave:0 -
We are two smokers in this house and ever since I saw how much it cost to dry clean the front room curtains (they really couldn't be washed) I have enforced smoking in one room only and only when candles are lit (any candle will help a bit)0

I live with a pipe smoker. He only smokes in the conservatory but to me it smells vile in there.
2-3 weeks ago I bought a can of Febreeze room spray and in my opinion it appears to work unlike ordinary air freshener.
I bought mine for half price in Habs but even at full price I personally think it would be good value as there seems a lot of product in the canSealed Pot Callenge No 0740 -
I use febreze most of the time but found the tesco one works just as well and was just 84p for a 500ml bottle last time I bought it0
