I think they've expired now Nick. As I remember they were only valid till something like the 16th of July.

I have just recieved my renewal quote through the post as my insurance with Tesco runs out 21/08/05.
My renewal was £448, but i thought i would check this to see if i was getting it cheaper than the tesco online quote.
When i did the online quote, it came out as £433, which also included a replacemnet car, which the renewal didnt include. Does anybody know why the renewal was more expensive that the online quote?? I would have thought that this would be the other way round! Also, on my renewal, it said including online discount?? I am very confused??

Renewal quotes are usually dearer than the quotes available for 'new' customers.

You also get a 10% discount when getting a quote online.

On my renewal quote it did say 'this includes your online discount'.
I phoned tesco up last night and ask why my renewal was more expensive.
The bloke on the phone put me on hold for ages, and then came back to say that he has spoken to his manager and they have both tried to work out why it was more expensive, but didnt know the answer?
He suggested that i just went ahead and brought my insurance online instead of renewing. I asked if this would be ok and i did think about the online quote only being for new customers, but he assured me that it would be fine.
My advice to anybody renewing their insurance is to look arround first, and definetely check out their renewal quote online with the same insurers. How often do people not check, and it could be costing them alot more! Especailly when the renewal quotes ''including your online discount''!!
I have saved around £20 plus added on a couresty car, by just taking a few minutes bu checking it out. It makes me wonder wether this is all a scam to make more money??

The same happened with more than car insurance. I got them to match the cheaper new customer quote.

Maybe they all do it then?? Just i would have thought the renwal (especially when it says ''including your online discount'') would have been cheaper, or even the same as the online quote.
Now i know this i will defintely be checking it out every year. Just think of all the people who havent the time to search for insurance, or even the people who havent got use of a computer or are unsure how to use one. Its them who will be losing out, and the car insurers know this.
