Which online suppliers collect washing machines

Need to buy a new washing machine but need the supplier to remove the old one at the same time. I know Currys offer this service but can anyone tell me who else does?

Thanks

  • Currys do (as you know) but I have awful experiences with their delivery guys - would never recommend.

Comet replaced my last washing machine and were wonderful!

Are you able to get it outside the house? The Council will usually collect for the same price as a supplier collection...

  • I think most suppliers offer this service (is it now a legal requirement?) but not many do it for free. John Lewis took mine away last month for £9.

boots would do it for £10
  • We used Currys last time - they took it for free and were actually fine - even phoned me half an hour before to say they were on their way.

The council where I live ( Dumfries and Galloway Council) uplift white goods for free which is prety good.
I just bought a washing machine last week from coopelectricalshop.co.uk was delivered in 3 days. They would uplift old machine for £9?? but as said council did it for free. Some good savings on their site and quick delivery.

Thanks for the info everyone. I know the council would collect it but it isn't at all easy to get it to the collection point and our council charges so I would rather pay someone to take it from its current position.

In response to 'one-non-blonde' it isn't a legal requirement to take it away (I assume you are refering to the WEEE directive) just that somewhere has to be available free of charge for you to take it.
  • You could always use your purchasing power to close the deal.

Something like 'If I buy XXXX from you then you will collect and remove my old one?'

If they say no then take your custom elsewhere! Everytime a company tries to coerce me into paying a delivery/collection charge I always suggest I'll go elsewhere as company X have offered me free delivery/collection. I have yet to find a company that allowed me to walk out of the shop!

They ALWAYS are suddenly able to discount their delivery charge. Funny that.......

Tesco Direct took my old one away for £5.
Here I go again on my own....

I tried this with Empire Direct but as they use standard couriers they said they couldn't take the old one. They didn't get my business.

I didn't realise Boots sold washing machines. I assume this would only be in their biggest stores as I can't find any at boots.com?
