    And it's normal for councils to review this sort of thing every few years.  So they'll send a letter to someone getting a discount saying "are you still single?" and they should answer yes if that's the case.  And so if they have reason to think she is lying they will turn up the heat.  Between those reviews they may not care what is happening but it helps if the information they can gather matches the facts.

     Recently I had my council tax smi reduction removed because a family member used my address for the NHS and electoral role. I then had to pay £210 a month instead of £110 because not only did I lose the reduction but they back dated it.

     Took a formal complaint and me providing multiple pieces of evidence to prove they didn't live here for the council to reinstate it.

    well it is great to see the council are monitoring and taking action otherwise "we" would all claim single person discount, but good to know you managed to resolve it

      I did, told him he had to pay me the increase in my bill. He wasn't pleased
